Following on from the KTM super duke thread what bikes are we all looking at for next year.
Now I know there’s a fair few of us on here who’s Africa twin deal is up next year so what bikes are we looking at.
I have to say mine
changes weekly,so here is my list in no particular order.

1.Ducati supersport,I’ve always wanted to own a Ducati but due to a very f***ed back this has not really been an option, however the Supersport is not really what you would call a full on sports bike and I love the looks.
2.MT10. what’s not to like, mental performance, track or road its going to put a smile on your face.Looks wise it’s very Marmite.
3.BMW S1000R.Pretty similar to the MT10,in my eyes a better looking bike but more expensive.
And then we come to the Ktm super duke 1290,not really been on my radar to be honest until you see the deals they do when clearing old stock, very hard to ignore such a good bike even though imho not the best looking out there.

So what’s on everyone’s shopping list next year?

The new 765 RS Street maybe just enough of an evolution to swap my 17 plate one for.

The rumoured 1160 Speed Triple RS

Still fancy the Kawasaki Z900RS Café

May just stick with the current Street RS though as it does everything I need and suits me.

Saw an MT10 up close for the first time over the weekend. I know the performance is suitably mental, but the quality looked horrendous, loads of exposed wires, cable ties, cheap looking plastics that didn't fit well etc. Maybe it was a bad example, but it's nowhere near Ducati/KTM quality from that encounter.

I was kinda of looking at at Honda 600 for a track bike then a cheaper road bike but I’m thinking the KTM could manage both.
The only problem I have with that is chucking a £12000 grand bike down the track instead of a couple of grand.

Anything, probably. I just want to get another bike, once my injuries are all sorted.

Actual bikes I’m considering are another Explorer (a known quantity), a Svartpilen 701, KTM Adventure (cc undecided), Africa Twin, Old Skool XRV 750 Africa Twin, Tenere 700... or, or... no idea. I might take my first ride and be scared stless and decide to stick to four wheels. We’ll have to wait and see.

I still like the idea of biking, for commuting and for holidays. I really miss my Scandinavian trips.

Don't know what I'll be doing bike wise for next year, I quite fancy a track bike again but can't be arsed with the faff of trailers or vans so will probably just end up hiring one for the 2 or 3 track days I'll do, I'm still enjoying the ZSX but I'm hardly using it to be honest so I might just get shot of it and clear the finance and buy another cheap street triple r or similar for a couple of grand.

If it helps sway your decision thats exactly what I've done! Managed to get a great deal. Will have to wait till next year for a track day though.

I'm very glad that Yamaha's don't have the quality of KTM, I bought a new KTM last year and its been in and out of the dealer being fixed under warranty, while my Yamaha's spend all their time with me being ridden, give me yamaha's quality any day of the week.

Ha.

My Yamaha burnt out it's starter switch and relay within 200 miles of buying it! And then had the switch gear replaced again when the hazard lever fell off 500 miles later.

Fair point! What I really mean is fit and finish quality, not overall reliability. I know KTM seem to have issues with lemons needing a lot of attention.

Parked next to the MT was a new 790 Adventure and a 390 Duke and both were beautifully finished.

Well for me, not sure. Currently got a K1300S 2010, and not really using it much due to new work commute and having a nipper this year (at 40!)

The next bike will be slower and more upright, to account for the misses as pillion, and be a good tourer. Thinking something like a GS, SuperTen or VStrom 1000.

Need to change the boiler and get 4 new windows in the next 12 months so can't really afford to buy anything unless something comes up.

Agreed, a strangely appealing bike, I plan to have a good look at the bike show.

There is a naked version of the h2 coming very soon.

A pic shop leaked some pics of it from the top of the crate. Doesn't look very pretty but I bet it'll be fun

Forgot two that were on my short list,

BMW 1000XR and the Ducati Multistrada,as with the aforementioned bad back I may need something upright but fancy something with a little bit of a hooligan element when the mood takes. biggrin

If they sorted that tank fairing out I think it would go a long way to help the bikes looks.
I don't dislike them but I just don't love em. biggrin

I'm undecided, the warranty runs out on my Speed Triple in June so not sure whether to chop it in. I've moved jobs so don't need it as much for commuting.
Did have a hankering for an MT10, the immobiliser bypass and fuel range has put me off though.
I suspect there will be a new S1000R out soon so might see if I can get a deal on the current one of that happens.
Plenty time to decide!

I’m considering getting a track bike for next year. Not sure what yet but definitely want to do more track days.
