99 a month with about 2k down, 3 years 0%.

What do people think about the value of this deal?

It feels like a cheap way to get a new bike in the garage but after the Honda 2k deposit contribution it’s still 14k to pay overall, 2018 models with very low miles are around 10K.

What do people think?

Its not £14k though is it? 36x99+2000 is £5600, then you hand it back, its cheapish for a brand new litre sportsbike depending on the mileage limit, PCP's don't make much sense if you are planning on keeping the bike after the end of period, they are there in reality to get you on a new bike every 3 years.

Edit, I have just looked at the deal

Its £2491 down with a combined 2k deposit contribution, then 36 x £99 plus a final payment of £7713, total payable of £15.5k with a mileage limit of 4k miles, its not a deal I'd take personally as I think they are too expensive overall (but they all are) the £99 a month headline price is just that a headline figure, amortised its actually £168 a month, I have no idea what equity will be left in the bike at the end of the term but I doubt there'll be 2k in it to get you another similar deal.

I think I would look to keep it so 14k would be the ultimate amount. Is there a new model out soon?

To be negative / offer some balance to an itchy trigger finger.

You’re probably not going to use it between now and March / April next year. 600 quids worth of payments and 6 months of insurance ‘wasted’ with no riding.

If you still want it in late Winter / Spring next year then that deal will probably still be available as they shift old stock ahead of the new 2020 AeroBlade and you could negotiate picking it up on March 1st for a ‘20’ plate.

Bike itself is more than too much for the road (like every Superbike from the last 2 decades).

Chill - they need to sell it more than you need to buy it at the moment. If you still want it mid December then start chatting to the dealer.

Nice advice. Thank you. The undisclosed issue is that I really like the Matt black with red trim which I believe is just about finished...

Its good advice, and the other obvious thing is is that you will have to find 7.5k at the end of the 3 years, which means your payments of £99/month will more than double unless you want to be paying finance for another 6.5 years on the bike, which means it won't be paid off till its almost 10 years old.

True, but I’d put some cash in at the end and finance the balance over a couple of years, I won’t pay for anything over more than 5 years.

You could pay for it at the end on a interest free credit card to make it even more tempting smile

Apologies to suggest that the extra performance of a 2018 top line superbike is irrelevant in road use compared to the 2012 version or a 2008 one or a (well maintained) 2004 one but that’s just how it is - sorry peaches.

It’s nigh-on irrelevant for track use for most folks these days and the main restrictive factor will the value of the bike in this respect.

I don’t knock anyone wanting to buy a new a superbike, everything new, beautiful, unscratched, taut etc and the point I was attempting to make is that a 2018 FireBlade will be more than fast & capable enough.

Point you’re trying to allude to is that you’re superfast presumably and can notice & take advantage of every extra hp and gramme saved on the monthly trip to 50 year old fat biker Sunday meeting point?

Hey I feel excluded as a fat 62yr old biker sitting at the Sunday meeting point currently. I may have to guy buy a new Fireblade just to recover.

Well...I will add some closure to this as several of you have been very generous with your advice.

Insurance is off the charts. I’m a new rider but pushing 40 with a garage in a half decent area. I was happy to stomach a couple of hundred a month as it would drop over time. Only two companies willing to touch me (including a 500 voluntary plus big compulsory excess), 5k or 8k a year...! I think I’m stuck with the VFR till at least 2021!!

There are even better deals to be had. Padgetts do the above with extras of Arrow exhaust and tail tidy. Whilst negotiating it also became obvious that there would be extra discounts if I was going to buy one. The time of year as stated above put me off. Ie it sitting in the garage for four months. I think I will be getting one in the spring.

Also the insurance question £168 a year for me

I actually had a look at this deal myself. Not really interested in sports bikes but who can say no to almost 1000bhp/ton for 99 quid a month. Check out insurance.... 12 grand.

I pay about £300 a year for my VFR. The insurance companies just mustn’t want the business if they are quoting 5/8/12k.
