I’ve been following this since a prototype was shown last year. I thought it might be a spiritual successor to my RS250 (less powerful than litre bikes but much lighter).

Have now seen the specifications from MCN. 100 bhp is fine but 169 kg dry - that doesn’t seem exceptional - in fact I think it makes it considerably heavier than my GSXR 750. A pity. I was probably expecting too much.

I think it looks fantastic, hoping it will be at the NEC at the end of this month to see in the flesh so to speak.

As for performance, and more importantly price, we will have to wait and see I guess. I am assuming first deliveries in 2020?

Have been really looking forward to this being unveiled.

The key to it's success will be the price, it's only natural competition I think comes from Honda and the CBR650R.

I would imagine it'll be more expensive than that bike due to the much better spec, for me it needs to be around £10k.

I suppose what I was hoping for was a cheaper version of the Paton S1. That bike also uses a 650 cc twin but is 158kg wet (claimed weight - Italian Kgs are sometimes lighter than ours!)

Me too on both parts - if the price is right I'm hoping it'll sell well. Only problem for me is, the nearest Aprilia dealer's miles away!

I reckon a lot of that weight will be the exhaust which Paton don’t have to adhere to Euro rules as they are tiny, easy fix when it has been out a while, I do think it’s gonna be nearer 11-12k though

I reckon at least 12k, sadly... Mind you, the R6 is 12k, the V2 Panigale will be 15k easy (yes I know it's loads more powerful, but it's a tricked-out twin).

About as much as an early SV650...with an extra ~30hp and far better suspension, brakes etc.

I think it would be an absolute hoot.

Typical BS PH post. If you are going to flatly contradict me you could out of politeness give a reference. The claimed dry weight of the GSXR-750 is I believe 163 kg so 6 kg less than the Aprilia for a bike with a bigger engine and about 40% more power.

I think this a really nice looking bike, I must be different to most as I don't want a 200hp rocket. I have neither the skill or the balls to ride it anywhere near its limit.

It does look great and I do love this class of bike. I'm really into the Lightweight class at the TT, they seem much more relatable to me than the unfeasible pace of the supersports, superstocks and superbikes.

12 grand for a 600 sounds ridiculous to me but I'm probably living in the past. It wasn't that long ago a 600 sportsbike was 5-6 grand and a 1000 could be had 9 grand.

I've seen 179kg quoted for the weight of a GSXR 750, which is still very light. Any weight saving seems to get stifled once 100plus kg of fat bloke climbs aboard anyway.

Not sure I understand the fuss? Weight isn't much higher on something like a gsxr 600 and it only has 100bhp? Suzukis and Hondas had about 120bhp. Maybe they're fours but still the same middle weight class...?

I don't get the weight fuss either, for a road bike +/- 10kg won't really matter that much.

The reason it's exciting is because it's a new 600-class with all the electronic gizmos included, bang up to date. Effectively just a modern litre bike but without the 200hp mentalness that not everyone wants.

I think people thinking it will be in the £10-12k range are wishful thinking, given the RSV4 is now over £20K+, £22k? I think this will be nearer £15k

^^^^ this is my thoughts, I don't think its going to be a budget bike but I cant help but think in the 15k bracket and 100hp its outpriced it self. That and the fact wheels are flogging of brand new 2019 pre reg 0 mileage tuono v4's off for £13200 eekeek

Can’t see this coming in at £15k, that gets you one of the smaller displacement Panigales or a Daytona 765

That is seriously tempting,
The Tuono Factory is the bike at the top of my list to replace my current S1000R, but I occasionally take a pillion so will probably have to go with the Tuono RR

Love the RS660 pictures and specs. Also like the purple paint and the brushed aluminium rear fork. Still it would be hard for me to justify much more than £10k price. Equally difficult to justify £15+k for a Duc V2 for that matter.
