I posted a while ago regarding first bikes etc.

Pleased to say I passed my Mod 2 with no minors on Friday so I could collect my new bike on Saturday and ride it home rather than having it delivered or my dad ride it home!

I live in Coulsdon and the bike was in Huddersfield! Worth the trip though, the bike is perfect!

I’ve never felt nerves, normally very confident but pulling away from a bike shop with a decent audience all knowing I’ve just passed on a new to me bike with new tyres, brakes and 0 degree temps I was absolutely stting myself!

2 hours and everything had been good! Then the rain started and for 3 hours I got absolutely drenched! Horrible ride!

Spent some time on Sunday cleaning it, it looked like I had taken it green leaning!

Went for a ride with my dad on his Yamaha FZ1S all was good.

Went out yesterday with a mate on his Fazer 600 and got carried away! Ended up being out for nearly 6 hours, Boxhill to Whiteways to Goodwood to Petworth to Guildford and back home!

Great ride, I’m loving the experience!

I’d like to do some of the advanced courses / bike safe course... worthwhile? I’m going to do the Ron Haslam Race School next.

2 wheels are better than 4 biggrin

I would always recommend more training.
The Warren, Croydon is probably the nearest BikeSafe.
For IAM you are in the area for LAM (London Advanced Motorcyclists), who get my vote.

Nice! What insurance are you paying and is it a 1000cc?

I only passed in May, looked at a Blade but the insurance was insane. Admittedly it was a new one so quite high value.

Congrats mate.

I passed at the beginning of this year and have since done both the bikesafe and IAM. Would highly recommend both.

750cc, I didn’t want a 1000cc just yet!!

Insurance is £960, I’m sure it’ll drop after the first year!

Nice Bike and congrats on that and passing the test.
Phone smilies don't work on PH btw. wink click on "smilies" above where you're posting and all will become (less) clear
Good to get some early miles under the belt, especially riding with someone else.

Happy riding.

It is, still have mine after 4 years of ownership.

Bikesafe is well worth it.

That’s not bad at all. I went the other way and bought an old VFR800, was only 300 quid but the bike is worth nowt and not as fast as yours. For a fireblade the cheapest quote was 5k...i need a couple of years ncb clearly.

Congratz and nice bike! biggrin

Bike Safe course is a great introduction to advanced riding. Very cheap day for great training. You can even get a free place if you live in certain London Boroughs.

As mentioned, RoSPA or IAM are also great groups where you will learn loads.. and now is a good time to join before you pick up any bad habbits! biggrin

PS. Just seen where you are located. Check out RoSPA SMART - Meeting point for training is at Tulley's Farm.. about 30 mins from you.

Nice one! Thank you!

I think it’s best to get some extra training in before the bad habits start!

A gixer 750 is without doubt the best sports bike out there. On a track day every 1k bike you take is a scalp and every 1k bike that takes you is only because it's a faster bike.
