Anyone getting one? Looks a beast! GT for me, just need to wait 12 months until they hit the second hand market...

'From £19,500': https://www.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk/motorcycles/r...

Looks utterly mega & I'd love one. Sadly, £20k + is slightly over my budget...

Although not my bag pictures don't do it justice

It basically shat all over a Diavel and said this is how it's done

The engine is huuuuge

Same as above, not really my thing but I spent a lot of time looking at one at the show.

From the reviews I’ve watched they don’t reckon it’s bad in the corners either.

If I ever had the chance to ride one I’d certainly take that up.

Looks to me that they copied a lot of the styling Qs from the x diavel particularly the rear end, swing arm, exhaust placement etc. Be interesting to see a back to back with one.

I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall when Triumphs design department revealed their original design to the board of directors & marketing people back when it was first released.

I can imagine John Bloor asking...

'What have you designed to take on HD in the US of A?

'We've built a 2.3 litre triple that stops as well as it goes and also handles far better than its size would suggest'

John Bloor...

'Jesus fking christ! You're all out of you fking minds, no one will buy a bike that big!'

Some of the manufacturing and test process here. Very impressive.

The first one (i had it for a year) was under-powered and over weight and just not lively enough for such a monster. The newest one is very, very different. Countless improvements. 2 and a half litres of grunt and slimmer and lighter.
I can't put the money to any more vehicles right now, i am fully committed on cash and space, but if i could i'd have one in an instant. I like the new version very much.
Give me one in purple!

Not sure what was up with yours, my 2010 model went like fking stink! Biggest problem I had was the width of the tank, it went so quick the wind blast pulled your legs apart and made you hips hurt!
Handled better than it should have done, power was so linear, and hilarious tbh. The new one, supper sharp and even gruntier must be bonkers.

I don't do sports bikes any more, but I do like physically big bikes with monster torque - and if I wasn't a dyed-in-the-wool Indian fan-boy I'd certainly be having one of these. Only thing it misses is a Fireball XL-5 style silencer like the original BSA Rocket 3s had. But yea, I like 'big' bikes and that looks just the ticket.

I think if I were in the market for a brand new bike, this would be pretty much top of the list. I did call re: the TFC version but they were all sold out pretty quickly on announcement.

I own a Diavel currently. It'll be interesting to try one of these when they hit the road. Chatting to one of the Triumph chaps, apparently there was a Diavel sat next to it when they we're making this, clearly that is the market they were gunning at. It has some lovely touches, little things/nice details like the pillion pegs which the Diavel did well, they have carried over to this to make sure nothing left unturned in the detail.

It's a lovely bike, with the ability to go with feet forward or normal position by changing purely bolt on parts, keeping the same chassis just different handlebars/foot rails parts.

Just watched that - surprisingly light for what it is too. Bloke says 290-something Kg; maybe that's dry, but still some way off the Chief at 380Kg wet and it's just an air-cooled twin. But then he did state some pretty hefty weight savings against the original on a part-by-part basis.

Back in 2006, I had an extended test ride on the then newish Rocket 3. Even if its not "my" kind of bike, I ended up buying one, and still have it. The only faults that I really find with it are the weight, and the fuel consumption.

When I first read of the new R3, I was hoping for two things. First, that Triumph reduced the weight. Which they have. Second that they would have increased the size of the fuel tank. Instead, they reduced it....Stupid!

Even if I can understand it will appeal to some, the styling, is a bit too modern for me. Combined with the reduction in fuel tank size, that means I wont be getting one. Why oh why could Triumph not have reduced the weight of the old model, given it the new engine, and a few cosmetic updates?

Had a look at it last night. It’s the width I can’t get my head round... the width of the overall thing, the tank and the tyres. It makes my Thruxton R feel like a 125
