Been told might be useful to ask here..

Hey guys, fixing a stolen recovered bmw R1200R 2012. Front end is missing, ignition barrel is a mess.. I've done the hard part of removing what's left and my work partner has purchased BMW R1200GS (adventure) 2012 clocks and headlight..

I've done some research and it's clear that these parts look different although the replacement ignition and ecu is also off a GS..

My question is will the GS clocks and headlight fit? Or have we just wasted alot of money on non compatible parts??

Is there anyone who has the right clocks and or headlight for sale?? Also the wiring and clip ins are missing for both so I'm abit stumped at this moment. Looking for second hand working parts. And just abit of guide really as bmw is still a very new job but confident.

Any other models compatible that I can use for this bike? It's seems the parts are super rare and stupidly wack expensive.

Hope someone can shed some light

Thanks! Wanting to give it back to the owner before Christmas!

From what I know, every model had a specific dashboard and lights. The GS one's are definitely different to the R1200R. At that era you are looinking at the twin cam engine, air cooled only, so you're only other options are from an RT, which are normally surrounded by fairing, and the GS. The earlier 1200ST was just the single cam, and the newer 1200RS only came in with the liquid cooled 1200.

Despite looking the same I can only imagine the ECU for the bikes with the common engine will be programmed differently, with the slightly different light configurations / switch gear etc. It all runs on a canbus, so its software rather than hard wiring thats gonna be the issue.
