Saw this on a FB user group, and it fitted the bill perfectly, I have been looking for one for a while, and this one was the best I have seen in a while. Only 13,500 miles in 18 years, lots of history, and a Givi wingrack ready for the summer tour.

It's VERY late on an 02, I'm pretty sure I swapped to a Vtec one in 2002, having put my name down before they were even on sale. IMHO, a poor choice, and have been back to the pre-Vtec ones several times since.

Nice I've got a 98 currently on 60k miles going strong not in as good condition as yours though.
As you've had them before I guess you know about the R/R issues I've put an SH847AA on mine now.
13.5k miles is nothing enjoy it.

Yeah, swapped a few R/Rs in my ownership. The other "cure" is to mount a PC fan to it, to keep it cooler.

Will take a look as to what is fitted now, as after 19 years, it might already have given up the ghost.

The 4th generation (I think) with gear driven cams does appear to be the most desireable. Very good find at that mileage!

Happy to stand corrected but I'm fairly confident all VFRs since the 1990 750 and up have been gear driven cams.
So all 800s should be

Looks a tidy bike OP! I had a 98 from a friend as a cheap hack, they make a good noise and are a good bike but a touch on the lardy side!

The gear driven cams stopped with the introduction of the gen 6 Vtec in 2002 ops bike is a gen 5 and will have gear driven cam.
I want to try one of the Vtec bikes to see the difference.

Congrats, nice bike. I think the late models had two O2 sensors and associated gubins.

I love the gear driven cam whine at low speeds, Lovely!

The VTEC models do handle a lot better, although it'll be more down to the state of the suspension / maintenance these days.

Enjoy!

I've had several non vtec, plus ome VTEC that I ordered when they were first announced.

I saw it advertised and put my name down. I have to say, I preferred the non vtec one, and this one sounds SO sweet.

The V Tech on them was always an expensive waste of time. Achieved virtually zilch in reality and the complication wasn't worth the money it cost.
