Hi
Long time lurker but thought it was about time I started posting.
A bit about my riding history, started out on a TS 50 at 16 which I had to ride in all weathers to the engineering college and then moved on to a Yamaha rd125dx twin which I loved and felt like a rocket after the restricted 50 but unfortunately got stolen 6 months later and never recovered.

After passing my car test at 18 I'm ashamed to say I left motorcycles behind and never got my full motorcycle licence until about 8 years ago after getting tired of spending money on cars and track days etc.
Amazingly passed both parts of my direct access first time despite not riding for over 30 years and not riding anything in between the lessons.

First "big" bike was a Honda hornet 600 which was fine but I knew what I really wanted was a sports bike and after going to see a 06 scorched yellow Daytona 675 and hearing them start it up I knew that was the bike for me. Loved that bike up until the day I wrote it off and spent a week in hospital and 3-months in plasterfrown

While I was still hobbling about I replaced it with a next gen Daytona 675 R which I still have and I think is going to be a keeper although I'm ashamed to say it's taking second place at the moment to my new purchase, a Triumph Thruxton 1200 R complete with track racer kit. As well as doing all my own maintenance I do like a bit of tinkering and cleaning so the Thruxton is an ideal bike in that sense as it takes a bit more looking after than your typical sports bike.

Really enjoyed riding the Thruxton in the summer and I've done quite a few modifications including fitting a quickshifter, converting the spoked wheels to tubeless and remapping with tune ECU.

Welcome to the forum!

I have Daytona 675 and I have ridden Thruxton R several times in the hills here in Switzerland.
Therefore I cannot understand how D675 can play second fiddle to the Thruxton.

T-R is a beautiful piece, sweet motor, easy rider sunny weekend stroll kind of thing, overly skinny though, but it can't hold a candle to stock D675, not to mention R, for excitement, performance, sound, looks, handling, comfort.

Anyway, cheers from a Triumph fan to another Triumph fan. beer

Hi
I didn't mean it as a direct comparison of the two bikes or the riding experience, a lot of it is new toy excitement.
I've had the Daytona 5 yrs now and while I still love riding it there was nothing else to do to it, I've done all the improvements and modifications to make it how I wanted, buying the Thruxton has started that process again.
I've enjoyed riding it as well though, and I must admit I quite like all the positive comments it gets.
I swapped the insurance from the Daytona to the Thruxton so that's the number one reason why I haven't ridden the Daytona since, definitely missing it now though and I'm going to insure them both in the summer, just hope my riding doesn't suffer switching between two bikes that are very different.

Hi
I think it was just under a year old when I bought it 5 years ago, it was already fitted with the arrow can, frame protectors and comfort seat but I've added most of the other things myself including the single seat cowl, evotech tail tidy, triumph LED indicators, carbon chain guard, folding adjustable levers, resprayed the "eyebrows" white, fitted the original RH exhaust cover instead of the arrow one and had it powder coated black, HID kit and LED running light.

Ah, ok, not mine then!

Great bike, absolutely loved it.

I also put an Austin racing exhaust shield on the left hand side, fills up the gap left by getting rid of all the gibbons with the original exhaust. Comes satin black, but once powder coated gloss black looks OEM and really tidies it up...

Enjoy the thruxton!
