This photo is doing the rounds on FB as some people are up in arms because the tyre tracks run near the remembrance cross which is at the side of the A20 in Kent. Quite a few bikes use the hill as a shortcut onto the Pilgrims Way which runs along above the cross.

Maybe it's because I ride off road but personally I don't see a problem? Considering how wet it is at the moment I don't think they are that bad and they're not going over the cross either.

Where is that, is it Lenham cross? It was swarming with metal detectorists last summer. The actual memorial, with names, has long been removed to Lenham Churchyard.

If it is Lenham, the pilgrims way runs BELOW the cross

Totally disrespectful the byway runs below the lower section of the cross
The byway is only supposed to be used with permission via a gate code from Kent council
It is also an area of ssi
It is this behaviour that gives the council/nimbys and ramblers the amunision they need to close
Byways

Most prob kids on crossers that get the legal riders tared with the same brush
I’ve seen more and more resentment towards trail riders and I can only guess that this sort of thing
Is fuelling the fire

I’ve rideen the pilgrims way for over 25 years maybe 3-4 times a year and never seen any tracks like that
Very sad 😔

As much as I get your valid points, given you've ridden for 25 years I'm sure you must be aware of just how many mx tracks get closed and how much travelling is required to get to tracks now?

The picture doesn't bother me, tt riders of any age that blatantly take the piss do but I do feel for the ones that just want to get out on their bike and can't because they can't travel or can't afford

It's a double edged sword I guess

I am not even sure that photo is similar to that area (I am sure that is the only cross just north of the A20).

Not a double edged sword in any way. If you can't travel or can't afford to go to a track, why do you have an MX bike? Poverty or lack of resources is no excuse for ahole behaviour, is it?
