My YTZ10S is no longer charging. Battery maintainer on the S1000RR didn’t click home so it’s dropped the charge.

I’ve read that it’s possible to reawaken the battery by pushing a positive charge from a known good battery. Clutching at straws?

Any other recommendations on battery replacement?

I had this with R1200RS 3 years ago. Some sort of electrical fault drained battery very low and CTEK would not charge. Can't remember details, maybe only 6V or something. I thought I had a battery fault so replaced it. New battery went same way. CTEK needs some battery voltage to work so I jumped drained one off car. Got to 11V or so pretty quick then charged up with CTEK OK. Think battery OK after that. Never fully sorted bike problem. Only did it when bike wet or in damp weather. No problems after I put dehumidifier in garage.

I've managed to put some life back into a dead battery by putting the charger on the dead battery and some jump leads to a good battery. Leave for 5 minutes and it "tricks" the charger into providing voltage. Disconnect your jump leads and let the charger do its thing. Might work with a jump pack rather than a second battery.

Thanks both.

Battery is reading 6v across it, but the charger and maintainer is not charging anything more.

I’ll hook it up to the car for a few minutes and see if as you recommend it will trick the charger into giving it some life.

Trying to avoid the 80 pound spend.

I may have the same problem. Could anyone give me a clue where to start with finding a solution?

This actually worked. However I still went and bought a new battery anyway and a new charger.

Why not Li-Ion?
Price is about the same, 2kg lighter and holds charge much much better (from my experience on 4 different bikes all with Li-Ion Shido batteries)

I was wondering about Li-Ion, but wondered how well it would handle water spray or cold starts?

How cold is cold for you?
I did ride down to 0C and the battery starts fine. Just let the lights shine for a few seconds to warm the battery up a little and the punch it provides is enough to properly turn the engine.
Also, these batteries reload faster than standard batteries.

I am not sure about water spray, never had my batteries sprayed, but, I mean, they are closed off in plastic.
