I've got a rry fireblade which is just coming up to 19k miles and is about 4 years old and the gearchange is getting increasingly crashy. It's never been the best but I'm finding it harder and harder to perform smooth changes either with or without the clutch. The chain is roughly 5000 miles old and in good condition and has the right amount of slack so the only thing I can think of is that the cushdrive is failing. I'm guessing it must get a pretty hard life in the blade but how long do people find they last from new?

Thanks,

Mark

My old ZZR1100 used to need one every service (4000 miles ). I think 19k miles is pretty good going.

I changed mine last night. There appeared to be no difference between the old ones and the new ones to look at and to squeeze (both rock hard) and no difference in the amount I could turn the sprocket against the wheel but I put the new ones in anyway and the gearchange has completely transformed... should have done this ages ago and will be replacing them every 10k miles from now on.

You were being ripped off, the OE honda cush rubbers for my blade were only 30 quid. As a bi-annual service item it's peanuts imo.
