I have just bought my wife a NEW Suzuki GSX-S125 and am running it in for her while she does her CBT. I have ridden it around for 12 miles from new, but I thought I would see what it was like momentarily opening the throttle fully and the bike struggles to get 6000 rpm and will not do over 45 mph sustained. I am worried there is something wrong with this new bike as it does not rev freely? I know that the motor will be tight but modern tolerances usually allow the new motors to rev much more freely than our motor. Is there a running in restriction either set in the ECU or a throttle position limiter? Thanks for the advice (I have ridden bikes since 1983 when I bought my first Suzuk GSX1100 and am an experienced rider) I do hope the engine loosens up as there is no way the bike has 15bhp it is nearer 4bhp like my Honda Z50 in comparison) Any information would be very mind settling, I hope I have not bought a bike with a Friday motor! Thanks, Steve

Have you read the manual? Usually if running in is required it will be detailed.

As above. Check with the dealer.

Most new bikes are restricted for the first few miles/initial service via the ECU.
