I know this will vary across the different parts of the country but ....

When do you predict the weather will turn and we will have roads that have been washed free of salt and nice dry / reasonably dry tarmac to enjoy again?

Here in the North East of England I am going to say that the 26th of March will be the day.

Did I miss winter?

10 degrees down south today, breezy, but by no means cold.

I thought this thread was going to be about when it was due to get cold! I think we've only had two frosts so far this winter.

Too cold for soft pleasure riding at the moment... 3.5° here at the moment, and a couple of inches of snow up at the Ponderosa cafe.

We've had a few more in the Midlands but I was out on Sat and the previous weekend - dry roads and sunny 10 degrees.

Greta may be getting mad but for us down south the climate crisis is going to be brilliant, no more defrosting cars smile

Suxs if you live in one of the soon to be uninhabitable waste lands like the middle east, California, Australia etc.

Could get much worse yet, I remember we had heavy snow cancel the first round of BSB a few years ago and that "Beast from the East" hung around until mid March after a really nice start to February...

OT but..... My ex wife is from Ipswich. I got in terrible trouble when the kids went back to hers and both kept sniggering and looking at her every time the beast from the east was mentioned on telly.

2018 it was ste until the end of April, cold, icy, wet, windy, then suddenly from the first May bank holiday it was glorious, didn’t rain a drop for 2.5 months round here. You could just head out anytime any day and it was dry and warm.
2019 we had a wonderful warm weekend at the end of Feb then back to average grot, steadily picked up end of March early April, never as consistently good as 2018 but ok. You had to take the good weather when it came get the bike out and not assume it would last.
This year, who knows, I worry that as we’ve had a nothing winter we’ll have a nothing spring and summer and it will just be meh. I hope for long warm summer evenings when you get home from work, and just head off for a hundred miles or so of bimbling...

I've been lucky the last couple of weekends: roads dried out just in time for a couple of 3 hour rides & was around 10C. I think 15C upward can be considered decent riding conditions (if it's dry), so my money's on second week in March, but it will yo-yo back & forth until end of April....
