Recommended place to stay in Folkestone
Discussion
I'm going to see a friend in German in June this year. As it's just going to be a long weekend I was hoping to get a bike friendly place to stay the night in Folkestone before catching a Morning Chunnel over.
All i'm looking for is a clean bed, shower and close to someplace to get a meal. And almost as important a secure place to park the bike during the night.
While I have googled I would rather ask the BB collective a place or 2 I can look into
cheers

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn, Ashford a few times - no better or worse than other hotels of a similar standard. I wouldn't say the parking is 'secure', but there are bushes etc so stuff can't be seem from the road (which isn't a particularly busy road), and depending on what room you have you can sometimes get the bike right outside your window. And the times I've been there have always been quite a few bikes in the car park, and a few bikers in the bar. Only downside would be it's not walkable to any decent restaurants (that I'm aware of) so if you want food and a drink then you ending up eating there...which is regular hotel fare. I'd stay there again without hesitation if it was cheap enough, but not so attached to it that if there was something cheaper nearby I wouldn't go there instead.
Bear in mind that if you go to Folkestone, you are going "past" the tunnel and then back on yourself. Not by much, granted, but still.
You could stay around Maidstone and only be 30 mins from the tunnel check-ins. Plenty of budget hotels around, I will have a think on whether any of them are potentially more secure

There is the Ashford International Hotel at junction 9 which is just over the motorway from a big cinema with plenty of places to eat round it, there are a couple of hotels by the cinema but I wouldn’t think they were that secure for parking. There is a Holiday Inn up the A20 from Ashford heading towards Charing that is opposite a Beefeater and a fish and chip shop. At junction 8 there is a Mercure hotel with plenty of parking that is reasonably out of the way of prying eyes.

What time is your Train in the morning? -HI Express has free Breakfast - Premier inn will be paid for , but you might find if you're on a very early train then not everywhere will be able to do food very early.
Not booked yet thinking book the hotel, then train. thinking 8.30 to 9am train. While i'm at it any recommendations on tyres. I am running Supercosra's at the moment and they will be dead by may.
Was looking at S22, I need something that can handle the bikes power.
i have tried to google but it's not that simple. IE speed rating. I see ZR then I see W & Y on Michelin

There's a Premier Inn one junction further down from the terminal which has a brewer's fayre type food pub next to it.
I've only ever stayed here when I have been travelling by car, but for ease of access to the tunnel its spot on.If all you're after is a decent, clean place to get your head down for the night with the option to eat at the onsite (across the road) Brewers Fare place then you cant go far wrong.
The carpark is also fairly quite and not really visible from the road so will be as secure as any other unsecured carpark I guess?
As for tyres, I'm a big fan of Michelin Power RS+

I've used the Holiday Inn Express there many times when using the tunnel (car) and the carpark will often have loads of bikes in it.
Not that close to Folkestone itself for evening food, but very handy in the morning as it's 5 minutes to check-in from the door.
