Talk to me about Bluetooth earplugs. Has anyone seen Custom Fit Guards or Ultimate Ear's SoundEar Bluetooth earplugs? I avoid using the phone, but want to hear SatNav instructions.

I'm looking into them too, my first question is, if the phone is in your pocket - presumably they may as well be wired and you may as well only use one.

I have Ultimate Ear Soundear (1.5 version) plugs, what do you want to know?

?

Ultimate ear Soundear are wired to each other but not to the phone obviously. Why use only 1?
They are earplugs to protect your hearing not only for listening to audio.

But why not use wired ones if you are just using the audio ?

Why use 2 ?

They generally aren't as comfortable / noise reducing as proper earplugs

I’ve always wondered about audio plugs.
If you have a loud bike do you need them turned up so loud that any benefit of the ear plug is lost due to volume.
Can you actually here your music without damaging your hearing?
Are you cut off from one of your senses without opening the age old argument between plugs and being able to hear what’s happening around you?
In context I’ve never actually used them so could be talking completely b*****ks.
😀

They are custom fit, all day very comfortable, medical grade silicone, with good noise reduction properties & zero faff as no wires to devices.

Are they as good as earplugs for noise reduction? Do they fit OK under a helmet - looks like they should but always good to get users feedback. Looked on the website, looks like they solve lots of problems, along with giving satnav voice commands from the phone.

See here for my experience with Plugfones: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

My main complaint is that they're quite fragile but my second set hasn't broken so far...

I have the ultimate ear ones.

Tbh I prefer the foam ones they are quieter and as they expand they don’t feel loose.

The silicon ones are much less faff to put in but they make my ears feel weird because they fill a lot of the ear to stop them falling out.

I use mine for short journeys and foam for long.

I wouldn’t buy again unless on super special offer.

“Are they as good as earplugs for noise reduction?”
I use Max earplugs which give 37 dB reduction. Way more than the silicon plugs.

Yes you will get some foam ear plugs that will give higher protection levels than custom silicone earplugs, but you will also get some less. Ear plugs will typically give between 22dB & 39dB reduction. My Ultimate ear Bluetooth custom plugs offer 31dB reduction but also provide fantastically clear audio whether that be music, phone or sat nav directions.

You pay your money & you make your choice with regard to what balance of features you want.

So it looks like mixed reviews then for plugs from ultimateear.

I have been meaning to try them for awhile but couldn't be bothered to get moulds made. Spotted their stand at the Excel motorcycle show with moulds taken on the stand saving the £25 fee.

So decided to go ahead and order a set for myself and my wife who was with me.

We ordered the Soundear model so we can plug them into our Sena units for music/intercom/satnav.

Total cost for two sets was about £350! So hoping they will be better than the plugphones we usually use which cost about £12 of eBay.

Any links to the ebay ones?

Ordered a set of these at the show for £140.00 . I've also got a set of wired Ultimate Ear buds so I hope the BT are as good.
