The recent 44 teeth review on the Superduke was interesting. Looks like a properly amusing bike. With the Tuono, being basically the same as before, the new Streetfighter threatening to be a bit mad, Speed Triple always being the 'nice' option and the new BMW S1000R, where do they all fit?

I still think the Tuono is the one which will blend the Superduke's fun ,with the Streefighter madness, but who knows?

KTM have done really well, I can't believe there's not a superbike just waiting to be rolled out.

For some reason (having never owned a naked bike before) I find myself drawn to the street fighter so will follow this thread with interest 😀

I've just watched the 44 teeth review and it's got me interested in bikes again.
Do KTM gave any reliability issues? It's an expensive bike to end up being unreliable.

The 1290 just keeps getting better and better in my eyes.
I test rode one last year and fell in love with it, this new one sounds even more promising.
I’m sure the tuono is amazing to ride but I just can’t see past a sports bike with upright bars, it just looks wrong to me.
For me the tuono, 1290 and street fighter are in a class of there own, speed, mt, bmw etc are a league below.

There’s no winner here. I’ve had the KTM GT which shares the same geometry as the the SDR but is about 10-15 bhp less. Very very capable bike. The tuono is a bit sharper on handling and more track focused. The KTM is more of an animal. Yams MT10 is in the ballpark along with the refined Honda CB1000.

Definitely personal choice. Money no object....... the new ducati is insane, 200 bhp + in standard trim. Triumph have a great alternative too. The naked market is massive and constantly evolving. At present, I’m bikeless but money no object, I’d take a punt on the Aprilia.

Can’t really comment on the Tuono as I’ve never had a go on one. Had my 18 Superduke for close to a year now and it’s bonkers!
I think the Streetfighter will be mad. Not once have I thought 170bhp is not enough, so god knows what 200+ bhp will be like!
I feel like the S1000r is a bit boring compared to today’s naked market?

I excluded the S1000R as a realistic competitor. Capable but very soulless. I’ve ridden one and it was forgettable. The RS is superb though. We are blessed with today’s offerings.

Ive test ridden most over the last few years, looking for a replacement for my MV Brutale, but none hit the spot enough for me to change. New MV Brutale 1000 is too expensive for me at £26k. Dont like the look of the Ducati, the headlight and daft wings put me off.

What is surprising is how different they all are to ride, a SD1290 compared to a Tuono to a Speed Triple compared to S1000R all have their own characters and riding position.

Its nice to have the choice...think i may wait for a 2-3 year old MV Brutale 1000.....MVs always seem to depreciate a lot, thankfully for used buyers smile

From my experience and others I know, and feedback from the Dealer, yes.

Superficially I think the street fighter and tuono will be of a similar ilk, basically being mental sports bikes with flat bars.

As 44T said, the KTM is designed to be a naked, and a swivel eyed wheelie machine thanks to its torque and geo.

Where the new S1000R will fit is a mystery, no shift cam so it won't be anything like the RR really, maybe it's more like the Super Duke.

I changed from mv to Aprilia. Their IL4 doesn't do it for me although mv as a brand do

Ridden the s1000r, as said capable but soulless compared to others mentioned. Mt10 bonkers jap bike, gsxs 1000 really quick but cheap and needs money thrown at it ideally

Triumph 1050RS very capable, smooth and top notch stuff fitted... Just feels a bit less mad than the top crop but genuinely a sweet bike

SD1290 truly is mad and ridden keen really can be something else

I've ridden all the above at some point to comment

No mention of the ZH2?
I know it's not pretty but if I was in the market for a bonkers naked I'd need to test ride it.

New S1000R will be out later this year or next. The R1250R has just been released. And it's usually this or the S1000R that comes first after the S1000RR.

It's a bit wrong to compare the new 1290R, Streetfighter, etc. with what is a 2014 BMW bike.

For me it will be a toss up between the 1290SDR and the BMW when it comes out. Very excited.
