Tragic news from TT
Discussion
Gus Scott, bike mag journalist and all round decent bloke was tragically killed at the TT this weekend. I only found out whilst watching coverage on TV earlier today. He recently got engaged to Radio 1 DJ Mary Ann Hobss :( A talented racer as well as journalist, Gus 'survived' the Macau GP many times (acknowledged as one of the most dangerous bike races), it was apparently Gus' first outing at the TT.
A sad, sad loss. Ronnie Smith a while back and now Gus 'Buster' Scott - RIP.

I have just returned from the IOM, and it was a terrible end to the TT. Gus was one of life’s nice guys and a good racer to boot. What makes the incident even more tragic is that it appears to have been caused when the marshall crossed the track to assist a racer with a machine problem. Rencullen is a particularly fast section and Gus stood no chance of avoiding her as she crossed the track, I spoke to some marshals after the race and they said the resulting impact was truly horrific. Gus will be sadly missed, and my thoughts are with both his and the marshalls families at this sad time.
I saw this today on the BBC coverage and was really shocked and saddened to hear about Gus. I read Performance Bikes from about '94 until a couple of years ago. Gus and Ronnie were absolute stars and had me in hysterics sometimes reading about their antics. I've got 2 or 3 vids that PB made and they're great viewing too.
RIP Gus and Ronnie.
RIP Gus and Ronnie.

Very bad news. Thoughts go out to Gus's and the marshall's families.
Spoke to a mate who is one of the UK's top marshalls (does international F1's, Le Mans, etc). Apparently there will be some sort of enquiry into this accident, as serious questions are being raised over the level of training/experience the poor woman had received to be attending this particular section of the curcuit (180mph+ section just after a blind crest). Let's hope the outcome means this is the last time it happens.

The marshall was from Kirk Micheal (a small village yards from where the accident occured), she had marshalled the Rencullen section for around 20 yrs, so lack of training/experience is not a likely cause.
I hope the inquest finds that it was just a tragic accident, I don't think blame will help the situation.
