Fancy swapping the STR for something different. Would like a bit of weather / wind protection and maybe a bit less cramped.

Used for short commute, weekend blasts, some trips. Don't want to spend more than 7k.

Any ideas? Thinking 848 (looks nice but running costs and reliability concerns), GSXR1000, fireblade, R1? Not interested in 'adventure' bikes.

Tried a 636 and r6 but found them tiny. Im 6ft. Why do they make the 600s so small!?

After my 2013 STR I had an 848 Evo, 2014 ZX10R, 848 Streetfighter, then a (current bike) R6. I’ve enjoyed them all for different reasons across the same uses you’ve listed plus some trackdays.

Doesn’t really answer your question, but pros and cons to all. None of the bikes listed have given any bother in 40k miles or so; have all cost c£7k +/- man maths; and I’m glad to have owned and enjoyed each one.

I went the other way. Part exchanged my Z1000sx for a 765RS last year. Found the SX like a bike with a flat front tyre, quick, but apart from a mid range growl, not a lot else that made it a bike I wanted to keep. Seat was torturous and terrible buffeting too.

Starting to think the Street Triple is a hard act to beat, apart from, god forbid an adventure bike, but just don't do the miles.

Get an older 600, they arent small then by any means - my fzr 600 3HE is quite a decent sized 600! When i went into one of the bike shops and seen an r6 i was like sttt my bike is way bigger than that!

GSXR1000 will fit the bill, any version including the latest (2017-...).
Older S1000RR as well. These are roomy.

New S1000RR is comfy but also small.
New Fireblade is not a road bike anymore.

You want a sizable 600cc sporty bike - 2002-2007 CBR600F4i. These are oldies but goodies.

Is that £7k inc trade in or £7k all in.

I was going to suggest a ktm 790/890 with a screen.

No one seems to make a decent half faired bike.
