I've done a search but drawn a blank - anyone know of a providers which offers single day motorcycle insurance? I'm not interested in taking an annual policy and then cancelling.

A google search of 'single day motorcycle insurance' brings up a ton of links.

Sadly, no 'go compare' style comparison search.

Will be a matter of ringing around.

All I've checked have been useless, either not quoting, advertising a service that they don't actually offer, or cars/vans only.

A year ago I used tempcover.com for single day insurance. I'd recently passed my test and was buying my first bike private second hand. I think the cover cost £40 so its not cheap but it did the job! One thing to bear in mind is the cover only starts on the hour I think. I didn't want to buy the insurance in advance in case the bike wasn't like the pictures. We ended up waiting around 30 minutes before it started.

Our tamed insurance expert who used to frequent these parts mentioned some years ago that most insurers had pulled out this market. Perhaps this is still the case.

If I recall correctly the consensus, was that it is now best to set up a standard policy, then cancel within the two weeks grace period.

If you have a bike insurance policy, calling your insurer and adding the bike for the day is likely to be cheapest.

I did it for a car a few years ago, and it was only about £20 for 24 hours.
