Would normally send my bikes to the dealer Or mechanic for general servicing, but now ive got a slightly older one i fancy giving it a go myself - ive done cars so cant be much difference?

2005 fireblade - want to flush the coolant, oil change and filters.

Rang the local motorfactors but they weren’t overly helpful!

Bike currently up on stands with fairings off so seems like a perfect time!

Opie oils or eBay if online - I get the oil from an eBay seller and the filter from my local bike shop.

I done the same with my CB1000R when I had it. I think I bought a service kit from eBay but searched for a reputable supplier. Also have a scout about for dealers selling the kits mail order, my local Yamaha dealer does them. Just had a quick search and there's some forum posts with contacts for Honda dealers if you want genuine.

I'd never serviced anything in my life but it went to plan, might do the same with my new one, £50 for the service kit from a Yamaha dealer, half hours work and save £70.

Fowler’s... eBay... as well as some others already mentioned.

I got my recent RC51 service kit from eBay - turned out to be the Blackpool Honda dealer.

I tend to get all my stuff from eBay. Oil from whoever is cheapest at the time(usually opie), I use Hiflo oil filters or OEM.

You will find a PDF service manual on the Internet quite easily if you want to know torque specs etc.

Superbike Shop for the oil, they were 25% cheaper than Opie Oils and free postage.

As others have, sportsbikeshop. I put in an order at about half 5 today, due to arrive Monday. Free delivery and cheaper than Opie oils/ebay

Which bit?

Nowt wrong with m&p and everyone knows the packaging of nearly all fireblades make them dogs to work on compared to most similar bikes.

Both are relevant comments with op saying he is looking to do more of his own work.
