How much pressure in a pre load adjuster?

I’ve ordered a Nitron rear shock for my Diavel, the standard shock has remote preload adjuster, and to remove it the swing arm has to come off, if I back off the adjuster will it be very messy when I disconnect the hydraulic line?

If you wind the preload down and take as much weight off it as possible it might not be a total horror story... I'd be prepared for it to be pretty nasty though, treat it like a loaded diesel injection line.

Suspension is one of those jobs I always send elsewhere having done fork seals once.

Messy isn't the word (though it was a decade old and I suspect the original oil).
