Speed Twin/Thruxton owners, what are they like?
Discussion
I'm thinking of a bike change and I'm drawn to the new Speed Twin, for me they look like an ideal scratching bike and also something you can just potter around on, I really don't need a sports tourer anymore and the ZSX is beginning to annoy me a little with the buffeting from the fairing/screen and its just a bit too competent, I've watched the 44 teeth review of the Speed Twin by Mossy and he rated it but I'd like some thoughts from folk who have had them long term.
I think they look and sound great, I'm not sure I want clip-ons so I am drawn to the Speed Twin rather than the Thruxton, I cannot get a test ride anywhere local at the minute though

My bikes have always been nakeds or sports bikes, So not really my thing, however when I use to get my Street rs serviced I was always given a triumph demo bike, rode the bonneville T120 and wasn’t a fan, felt heavy, brakes struggled, didn’t go all that well and handling was a bit meh, they gave me a speed twin which I thought was just a bonneville rebadged but I was very wrong.
I fell in love with it during the 24hrs and 120 miles I had it, it’s a proper little bike, lovely and comfy, superb brakes, amazing handling and for the 96 (or whatever it is) hp it has, it has some serious go! I recently bought a new bike (ended up with a 899) but it’s the first time I’ve had a ‘modern classic’ on my shortlist. I’d be very surprised if anyone bought one and wasn’t very pleased with the purchase.
Not the best review as I didn’t have it for long but as you can tell a definite thumbs up from me.

There was similar thread last year, some useful thoughts and comments and some rambling nonsense from me, and I think there was another thread about cafe racers that had similar but I can’t find that at the moment
