Lightweight motorcycle jacket, jeans & boots
Discussion
Following on from a post on here about losing interest in going out, I think it's because I'm fed up at this time of year of having heavy gear and been cooked from the inside, especially when we arrive at xyz and go for a walkabout. I did ride out quite about but not so much this year. The boots feel like I'm walking in wet mud and the textiles haven't got decent air ventilation in this weather.
I have Rukka textiles and Daytona Roadstar boots which are fine from Sept/Oct to March/April.
Looking to get some lighter boots, jacket and jeans. I tried Oxford jeans but the quality wasn't too good. Then tried some Bull-it SR6's last year which were heavy and hot when the sun was out.
Not looking to spend a fortune but would like some suggestions of lighter gear, which will hopefully refuel the passion.

These are great, 40% Kevlar.
I rode with these on Thursday (when it was a tad hot) sat outside at a mates house for a couple of hours and felt comfortable.

Knox do their urbane pro shirt which is basically fishnets with armour in the right place, only intended for urban/low speeds I think but then how well does anything hold up at 60/70?
I know a lot of people will only ride with underlayers. Think Nike Pro/under armour etc. Meant to keep you cool but no experience myself.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I do have a top box (not used one in years) but the faffing about and changing trousers and boots for an hour or so would be a chore compared to just wearing something more suitable in the first place, IMO. But a valid suggestion all the same.
I was looking at roadskin a couple of years ago. Are they true to size?
My only reservation about them is you get to read that there customer services is slow to non existent. Sportsbikeshop look ok for the prices and I know SBS has excellent CS with a quick turnaround should something not fit.
I guess I'll have to go shopping in the morning to infinity nr Camberley and some other local places but thanks for the suggestions.

Check out Bullit Tactical jeans. I have a pair of SR6 which I was wearing all year round but found them too heavy and hot in summer, so I recently got a pair of the single skin Tactical jeans and they are perfect in the warmer weather.
I wear an Oxford Hardy jacket or RST Mesh jacket in the summer, the latter only for the really warm days.

I ordered mine early May and they took just under 2 weeks to arrive, not bad in the middle of lockdown.I do have a top box (not used one in years) but the faffing about and changing trousers and boots for an hour or so would be a chore compared to just wearing something more suitable in the first place, IMO. Size wise was ok same as my normal jeans.
There are so many choices of mesh jackets in different weights/features/amount of mesh. Some even have a light windproof liner for those cool early mornings when it warms up later. Just check out the range of any of the big name brands, they all have mesh. If you prefer leather you can get perforated leather too.
For jeans you really want single layer jeans where the kevlar-like material is woven in, versus the older style jeans that had a separate liner and end up as thick/warm as chainsaw trousers.
There are number of brands that do single layer protective jeans now. I have some Rokker rokkertech which are supposedly as abrasion resistant as leather, but flow a lot of air for summer months. They are a bit more pricey, PMJ also do some nice single layer jeans that are nearer £200 than £300 of Rokker. https://www.motolegends.com/trousers/pmj-tex-pro-j...

I've got a Revit mesh jacket which is perfect for summer rides - bit chilly below about 20 degree's though when on the move. Buying again, I'd look for something with a removable windproof liner. I also found going for a non-black jacket helps massively with the heat when sitting at the lights etc.
Equally my Alpinestars SMX Air gloves only come out when it gets to high teens/into the 20's.
My Knox Richmond Jeans are great, quite slim fitting as motorcylce jeans go, although they're no skinny denim. They're also Kevlar lined, which is fine while on the move, but a bit thick and heavy for walking around in when the temp is creeping above the high teens. Buying again I'd try and fine some Single-Layer denim jeans.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
I ended up throwing my wallet out the window and buying a pair of Daytona Arrows, Bull it one skin jeans and a Bering summer jacket.
The boots and jeans have been sent back today. While the jeans were comfortable I didn't want to tuck them into my boots (not something I've ever been keen on to be fair and only done with my leathers). The boots were 100g less each than my Roadstars and while my roadstars fit great, the left boot was lose, while the right boot was tight.
I think I'll go down the textile trousers with removable liners and buy some boots direct from a shop so to try them on. My Rukka trousers are fine for certain times of the year but the liner isn't removable nor has outside pockets.
One plus side is for that anyone nr Reading is that sports bike shop have opened up a branch there. I hope to get there soon before the local ram raiders do.
I keep looking at a replacement bike as well

I have a pair of Rokker Rokkertech jeans which have been great and they fit over my riding boots. I think they would probably fit over your Daytona Arrow sport boots, so maybe have a look at those. But as stated above they are not cheap, but then have a very good safety rating and you can't put money on safety. I did have a look at the Rokker and they seem a great product. I kind of weighed it up that I don't actually need denim type trousers as I don't need to go anywhere that requires me to. Although in saying that my Son has just bought some on the back of some glowing testaments from here (he still works and they'll be office friendly, which I think yours was one of them
Hot days I use a Furygan mesh jacket with armour, normal jeans and magnum boots.
Those £50 ones that cops and security guards wear.
I have 1000s of quids worth of heavy motorcycle gear that I rarely wear as it's so inconvenient when you get to your destination.
I know it's for safety but along with numerous chains and disk locks to faff around with, it's ruining the feeling of freedom that I used to have when I first started riding bikes in the 70s.
In fact the faff adds so much time to the beginning and end of my typical commute that it's almost as quick to take the car

I think something to consider here also is the type of bike.
On my touring bike, I cook in most clothing due to its great weather protection, mesh jacket is usually the weapon of choice.
The on the naked, it can flow way to much air and I sometimes have to put the wind proof liner in.
If your thinking if changing your bike, consider how it might affect your gear
Cheers

Depending on your type of riding, the Daytona AC Classic boots have plenty of protection for a short boot but are all day comfy. I wear them all day at work with Rokker jeans (appreeciate you don't want denim jeans).
I also have a Klim Induction jacket for hot days. It's literally the nearest you will ever get to going out in a t-shirt, unless you actually just go out in a t-shirt, but with great protection. I just wear a windproof jacket over it first thing in the morning when things are chilly.
