2016 vs 2017 R1M

Just wondered if there’s a lot of difference between them?, is the 2017(black engine covers) a different design that doesn’t suffer any engine/gearbox issues?.
Budget wise I’m looking at either a 2016 with 3k miles or a 2017 with 7k miles so can’t make up my mind which is the better one to go for.

Isn’t black engines = Euro 4 and silver engines Euro 3?

If so it will be a throttle response type thing and re-mapping type question once you’ve escaped the possible gearbox issues of the earlier motor (first production year only).
