Lots seem to have been registered in 2018 – could be perhaps they're coming up to two years old. Might be about to go out of warranty? They never seem to sell - I think Moto Rapido has had one in stock for years...

Yeah as you say loads about and not selling ..just seems strange as special edition of last v twin i would have thought to be sought after..cant see any regular 1299r for sale either so its not as if the regular one is way cheaper!!

Trouble is I think the V4 has overshadowed it.

I think you could be right..sounds like the 1299r is a total pain to ride from too what ive been reading and the v4 much more refined..i can sympathise with that after having 1199r before..

Especially when the asking price is still around £30k.

Judging by the number for sale I don't think its limited enough to keep prices up that high.

As is the way with Ducati...

Every time there's a "Final Edition", Corsetuttifrutti or a Johnny Spanglepants Anniverahole, they come up with a new "best evaa" a few months later and the old hero is cold product...

Don't ever buy a Ducati for an ROI

Yeh - real ugly looking thing....

Clearly “overshadowed” by the V4 as it came out shortly after it was released, but as the last big V-Twin Panigale, I was always going to be sold on it.

They do look great.

Any plans on a V4 Superleggera? wink

1299 is a different animal to the 1199, much nicer. Now I have a proper hankering for the FE, look at the fker....BUT, it is reckoned to not ride as nice as the stock 1299s from prior years, as it is euro4 and a bit sanitised as a result.
I’ve not ridden and FE so only going on what I was told.

How much are FEs now, then?

You'd be the proud owner very quickly if you flashed 25 grand at someone!

Agree with the Euro4 point - really need to get the full system that does away with the collector box - much better throttle response and the noise is wonderful.

Me and a friend went to look at a 1299 FE at Specialist bikes a few weeks ago. Lovely machine. Think it was up for around 28k? Could be wrong.
My friend in the end managed to nab a brand new (pre reg) 2020 V4S with the akras and marchanisi (spelling?) Wheels for £25500. Realistically a better bike for less money.

my local ducati dealer suggested it was wise for me to keep my mint 1199S (with the entire ducati corse catalogue of footpegs, carbon etc just because i could)

Apparantly hard-core ducati riders went from 1199S to 1299S (nicer to ride, less evil) and then to V4 (nicer to ride than 1299S, less evil) and now they want the rawness back -- so are looking for 1199S's again

Which makes sense -- i come out in a cold sweat just getting within 6 feet of my 1199S, because it is a raw animal. If I wanted refined and nice, I would have a new S1000RR

How does a 1199S compare to a 1098R in terms of "ease of riding"?

no idea, never ridden a 1098

the 1199s is pretty extreme -- both in terms of position, and its almost feral behaviour

its much improved by the little plastic inserts you can fit into the throttle grip, takes all the slack out

Beautiful bike mate - on another note your "CBT and buying a desmo" thread inspired me to start riding. I now ride a Blackbird
