Cut your own tank pad, effectively. Anyone used it? Is it any good? Better alternative?

Don't think a nano coating is gonna stop my jacket zip or the button on my jeans from scratching the tank.

Only if your zip is nano-sized.

Size isn't everything.

It looks like its similar to 3M Ventureshield, which is probably the best stuff out there right now.

Because its quite a thick film it can be a bit tricky to use on compound curves and sharp edges.
Unless you're wrapping the whole tank you will end up with visible edges where the film ends which do sometimes lift a little and let water / muck get underneath which looks unsightly.

Alternatives? 3M ventureshield as mentioned above or you could get a tank pad which will stop your zip from scratching the tank.
Because I have their tank grip pads I fitted the central tank pad from Eazigrip to mine. And the quality of their stuff is excellent and easy to fit too.

I put the 3M stuff on my 800GS before I took it trail riding. It coped very well with some quite tough abuse. There were edges at the end of the film and it had some minor peeling after a couple of years, But nothing I wouldn't expect and it protected the bike very well. Was money well spent.
