Keeping an MT09 or similar in London without a garage?
Discussion
I'm looking to get an MT09 or similar and live in London with the only option to keep it out the front of my flat on a busy residential road. I get if someone wants it they'll take it (I had my old motocross bike nicked many years ago) but looking at Pragmasis locks, disc locks, alarms and covers and finding a lampost to chain it to, is it worth the risk?
My alternative is to keep it in Yorkshire in a locked garage and travel up on weekends and holidays to go riding. Another big factor is that insurance for London is £2k+ whereas for Yorkshire it's £500...
Saw a load of threads from 2014 but would love some current 2020 advice?

Locked on the street in the same place it will get nicked eventually
could you look at getting it stored in London

although it would cost more, it would allow you to use it more (and a train/petrol to Yorkshire every other weekend would add up)

I don't know which part of London you are in but I would contact your local council and see if they have any garages available to rent.
I'm in Clapham and pay about £1k a year for a double garage. May seem alot but its in a secure gated compound of about 20 garages. They all had brand new decent doors plus with the security gate it doubles your protection. It brings the insurance premiums down across my bikes and car to manageable levels. Only downsides are no power sockets for trickle chargers etc and mine is a 10 minute walk from my house but better than the alternatives!

Thanks! I had a look at horsepower and it was pretty expensive. But you’re right would allow more riding. It prompted me to look at self storage and they do bike sized containers for aboetween £18-£30 a week. Could work, thanks. could you look at getting it stored in London

I’m in Hammersmith. Great suggestion I didn’t know that! Clapham is better than Yorkshire so I may contact them if H&F don’t I'm in Clapham and pay about £1k a year for a double garage.
