how wide are your chicken stripes ?
Discussion
Having seen a thread a while back with the unused areas of the rear tyre reffered to as 'chicken stripes', how wide or narrow are yours ? and how long did it take you to loose them ?
Best I've seen was an old neighbour who used to removed the flappy bit where the side wall starts.
Me, well I'm a bit of a newby, and Mrs vitesse tells me off every time she sees they've got narrower.
I just keep my helmet on now so I can't hear her !!!!
The 3mm of brown on the left is the unused rubber. That's after an 'energetic' ride back from Poole one evening. I went out with Mon Ami Mate recently and the middle of the tyre was all bobbled and the chicken strips were pretty non-existent. Sadly I needed a new tyre shortly afterwards.

you'll never get rid of them on the front - this is a good thing
Nords has.
No he hasn't! He's got about 10mm left each side. It's called pushing the front into corners!!
Nords - serious question: I presume your back tyre in the photo is after a road ride? If it's not, where were you riding, and what sort of suspension are you running? Your tyres are very clean!!!
