Donington 2020
Discussion
Morning All,
Anyone have an insight to the message that now appears at the top of the site? https://doningtonpark.msv.com/DP-20-BSB
IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE TEMPORARILY TAKEN TICKETS OFF SALE FOR THIS EVENT. OTHER RACE MEETINGS ARE NOT AFFECTED. WE WILL PROVIDE FURTHER UPDATES AS SOON AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE.
There doesn't appear to be any more info anywhere.
I did find this however. https://www.touringcartimes.com/2020/07/29/doningt...

According to MSV website they've had to prevent spectators attending touring cars this weekend. Sounds like they couldn't meet requirements and don't want to sell more BSB tickets in case they have to refund for same reason. I suspect demand for tickets for BSB and BTCC is much larger than they would be for club events and therefore harder to make COVID safe!
I've just received this from MSV.
I've got weekend tickets for the BSB too.
MSV can today (31/7) confirm that, following further consultation with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), we will be unable to permit spectators at any BTCC or Bennetts BSB events during August. This means we cannot allow ticket or season pass holders to attend any of the following events:
BTCC at Donington Park – 1/2 August
BSB at Donington Park – 7-9 August
BTCC at Brands Hatch – 8/9 August
BSB at Snetterton – 21-23 August
BTCC at Oulton Park – 22/23 August
MSV has followed the government’s guidance at every stage in our event planning. Regrettably, in our most recent consultation with DCMS, their interpretation of the definition of Elite Sport has widened to include BTCC and BSB, as the leading national championships in the UK. This position coincides with the government’s decision to postpone any further test events with spectators at Elite Sport fixtures. Unfortunately this classification means that these events must now follow the government's Elite Sport pathway, with spectators presently unable to attend.
In line with the wording of Elite Sport guidance, we have not considered these events to be Elite Sport, with the guidance focussed towards sports such as Premier League football and Rugby League, which tends to attract huge crowds, mostly in stadiums, and typically rely on public transport. By contrast, circuit venues are by their very nature wide-open spaces like parks, with ample room to enable social distancing across dozens of spectator viewing areas. To be clear, the decision not to allow spectators at BTCC and BSB events has nothing to do with MSV's comprehensive Covid-Secure procedures for keeping our customers and staff safe.
We hope that we will be able to welcome spectators back to these events soon, and will maintain a dialogue with DCMS and our local authorities to pursue that agenda, always with public health as a priority. We will provide further updates on BSB and BTCC events beyond August in due course.
We understand that this news will be hugely disappointing and difficult to understand, and we are so sorry for the inconvenience this will cause. We were really looking forward to welcoming fans to these events and have worked extremely hard to provide a totally safe environment, liaising closely with local partners, so this development is very frustrating for the entire team at MSV.
So what happens now?
We've set up a portal for you to manage your booking online. We've tried to make it as easy as possible for you to let us know your choice from the list below:
If you tell us you’re happy for your entire booking to be carried over to the 2021 event (including any optional extras such as grandstand seats and camping) that will secure your 2021 booking at 2020 prices
If you prefer, you can receive a full credit for the value of your order to your MSV account. This credit will be ready and waiting to be used against any MSV product, including other race meeting tickets and season passes. The credit will be valid until the end of 2021
Finally, if neither of these options work, you'll be able to claim a full refund. Please allow up to 15 working days for this to reach your account, but we will of course aim to process any refunds as quickly as possible

Yep, just saw something on Facebook about not having spectators. A shame really as I was there last weekend watching the Thundersport round. No access to the paddock but it was £12 to get a days racing fix.
I do understand why they’ve done it but don’t really see why they can’t just sell day tickets at massively reduced numbers. An income from a few hundred tickets is better than none.
