Is this true?

REV'IT! said:
Due to its stretch properties, kangaroo leather offers freedom of movement from the get-go rather than needing to break in over time like a cowhide suit does. However, stretching leather means creating space - and length - in the material. For that reason, a full kangaroo suit gets “bigger” over time, which results in a wider fit and a less appealing appearance over time.

Don’t know about that but it definitely helps you bounce if you fall. Maybe.

A baby kangaroo is approx 25mm at birth.

A fully grown adult can be up to 3 metres tall.

So it stands to reason that it stretches a lot.

I have some - I make sure i tie me kangaroo leathers down if they are a loose fit, especially if you ride a sports bike.

I've had my BKS 'Roo suit for over 4 years and if it has stretched it's got bigger at a much slower rate than me!!!

Reads to me like the merits and pitfalls of Kangaroo leather are based in relation to it's reduced thickness rather than anything else.

If you reduce the thickness, it seems pretty obvious to me it will be more supple and lighter, but will also stretch more?

In my experience (14 years leather industry) kangaroo is more elastic/easier to stretch than cow, but it shouldn’t stretch much further out. That said, bike leathers are rarely full grain cow hide, the surface layer isn’t leather so that will affect things. Provided you’ve sized down I’d expect either to stretch equally, the kangaroo just getting there quicker

Kangaroo leather has a good stretch - like lots of Australian stuff.

Rolf Harris for example got a really long stretch .....
