Electric Scooter (3200w) - Anyone got one?

Cannot legally use them in UK except on private land - although I'm seeing more of them around in public - and there are moves to update the legislation to accommodate them for commuters.

Seems like good value at c.£1k, and could be useful for the mile or two journey either end of a train journey.

Has anyone got one or got any experiences to share?

They are everywhere in my city along with electric: bikes, skateboards and monowheels.

Seem like a good idea to me as a relatively efficient form of personal transport.

Bear in mind that its not a 'motorbike' type scooter, but a 'stand-on' type scooter, in case there is anywhere better for this one.

You might a bit disappointed by the legislation.

They’re restricting legalizing them to approved rentals and have no,plan to allow privately owned to be used.

They do look like a great commute option.

Whatever they might be trying to do, you can barely walk down any street in London without at least seeing one, or at worst having one fly past using an unexpected combination of road/pavement/road and weaving between pedestrians.

I fully support their use, but not on the fking pavement. People just don't expect something flying along at 15/20 mph silently.

Whatever the law, they seem to be in widespread use in most cities.

If the promised initiatives to help improve cycling facilities go ahead, then it makes sense for bikes and eBikes and eScooters to share the same infrastructure.

They can all provide clean, low cost solutions to urban mobility and reduce the dreaded congestion. I think it’s a positive move.

Being someone who rode a pcx125 for 30k plus miles I don't mind looking like a dick on the road, but I draw the line at that.

It will be terrible quality too.

We have one very similar to this


Its only 800w though and tops out at around 20mph. Stops up just fine, though I wouldn't chance it at double that speed, surprisingly stable though I will say even over rough ground and bumps etc

Yes, I was mindful that a small bump could quickly send you in an unexpected direction towards a collision with something hard!

Notice a lot of deliveroo riders on them in S/E London, wonder if anyone has been stopped by the police as due to the wattage you need a licence and insurance so risk 6 points at the very least if caught.
