Dear summer filterers...

If you're trying to filter and decide that the path ahead is too narrow for you please take the time to think of where you're going to stop and don't simply park it between the rows of cars so following bikes can't get through.

If you're filtering and a bike comes up behind you travelling more quickly then please let them through.

I respect your right to take things at your own pace but please respect our right to do the same even if you currently deem that pace to be suicidal.

All the best,

Mark

I followed some pleb on a Goldwing through heavy traffic around the Le Mans ring road. It got to the stage where he couldn't get through but would he let narrower bikes pass? Nope!!

just take care out there everyone.

My dad is on an A&E ward right now with a cracked vertebrae & other back damage after a numptie pulled out of a junction & sideswiped him (he wasn't filtering at the time) on Monday morning. He's a tough old bugger & will be fine after a month or so. His first words were asking if I had pulled my finger out & booked the DAS yet Got theory next week so wont be long......

The guy who I was following this morning was overtaking cars failing to spot that they were about to move out to go past parked cars. He did this a few times and each time got squeezed between the car he was over taking which was doing 60 and the on coming traffic which was also doing 60. If he had seen the situation coming (and it was obvious) he could of waited or if he hadn't he could have nailed it when he realised he was running out of space. What he actually did was visibly breath in and stiffen. He did this a few times so is clearly not learning from experience.

I finally got past him only for him to cruise past me on one of those right turn areas where he nearly got taken out by a guy turning right who was indicating who I was waiting behind. He did that twice.

He shouldn't have been allowed out frankly. Each to their own and all that but I don't want to ride over the bits.

Maybe he felt under pressure because there was someone following him. If so he should have let me past. I'm no speed freak on the corners and will gladly let people past if there are quicker than me.

I had some boy racer prove his driving skill to me through on of those turn-right boxes, around a sweeping right, with restricted visibility, in moderate traffic. I just cringed as he overtook me and the car I was following.

We must be getting old and sensible Dern.

Hope your dad gets better and do as he says, get that DAS booked!!!!

There are a LOT more bikes out at present and the riders are a bit mixed to say the least. I've seen people wobbling around on bikes and then filtering and very fast speed. And as for what some people are wearing!!!! Well best not go down that discussion again.

I have to say I do feel the benefit of riding all year round in any weather in the summer...

ill undertake a car without giving a $h!t...butwhen i get held up and the bike dosnt even wave me by let alone move over i allways feel "rude" undertaking a bike

and dont get me started on pre-emptive lane hogging

Filtering at anytime is a risky business.... my mate Angus (RIP dude) was killed in Wimbledon a couple of years ago whilst filtering when a truck that he was alongside flashed a car out in front of him (turning into the opposite direction).

Stay safe people

Here here! Some inconsiderate pleb on an FJR1300 halted me in my tracks on Sunday on the way to Beaulieu - by the time i'd got around them, the party I was riding with were long gone (cheers lads!) and I didn't have a clue where I was going!
