I've been given the opportunity to have a day flat tracking with Pete Boast at his place which I'm really looking forward too.

I've ridden road bikes for around 20 years but have had limited offroad experience, not that I am concerned about that.

Anyone else on here had a go at it? It will be interesting to see how much different the riding style will be and if any of it will be transferable for riding on the road or track?

Its fun, I think they spend a lot of time on smaller bikes, to get the technique sorted, I keep threatening to have a go myself, but haven't got round to it yet.

You will fall off, you will want to do it again

Yes, it's great fun, hard on your left leg though.

Would do it again!

Yes but you NEVER use the front brake on a dirt bike wink

Well, if it's good enough for Rossi at his training ranch, you should get something from it.
Enjoy.

I'm not after a flat track styled bike. Its the flat track school that I will be going along to for the day.

I used to do it for training when I raced in my teens. It takes some getting used to but a great way to spend some time, you'll enjoy it!

I've watched loads of flat track racing before. It is something I'm pretty well aware of, i just haven't tried it yet.

Never done it but would like to. Got a fair bit of off road experience. You learn to let the bike move

My uncles and dad for a short period did grass track racing

Grass track .... the only thing scarier than grass track, is sidecar grass track.

Never done it.

However this does seem like the perfect excuse for me to declare that I am booked at Colin Edwards' Texas Tornado bootcamp in October, so I will be doing something similar at that. Awesome I know. biggrin
