One bike from your past
Discussion
Based on the 'How Many' thread.
If you could keep one bike from your past, that you have since parted with, what would it be and why?
Me, I'd never have sold my FZ-09 if I had more space. Amazing engine, custom suspension, just feels right to me, fits me like a glove. I've only been riding since 2014 so it was my first proper bike. I wanted to SORN it and just keep it until my son could ride it, but no space and needed the funds for the next bike. Oh well...

Probably my ZX9R C2.
Big, fast, comfy, did everything but was always considered an also-ran amongst R1 and Fireblade company.
It had a stonking engine with a great intake roar and most importantly fitted me perfectly, I found it all day comfortable. I did a memorable high speed trip from Magny Cours to Le Havre on a Sunday night to catch the late night ferry back to Pompey, pretty much maxing it whenever I could in the rural bits of France where I was reasonably confident of there being no Gendarmes about, an epic ride. Might get another one day.
Alas I traded it for a Honda Firestorm as I wanted to scratch the V twin urge but soon had buyer's regret!

Mine would be my Thunderace. Changed most of the bike by the end to make it more suitable for trackdays. Surprised quite a few people how quick it was with much shorter gearing and 139bhp at the wheel. It was also comfy enough to ride all day and was used daily.
Unfortunately I crashed at Cadwell and it flipped end over end several times. Massive waste of money really but I loved the bike.
My FZR1000 Exup
It was my first litre bike after a ZZR600 and VFR750F and it felt like a cruise missile.
I put about 50k on it in 6 years and took it to Spain when I moved over there for a few years, happy days I remember wearing a rear tyre out every 800 miles in the hills above Benidorm, did the Spanish GP in Barcelona on it and went everywhere on it, it was worn out and having no money really to spend on it I px'd it for a Fazer 600 as I needed reliable transport to travel into Alicante everyday. It was a great bike.

Where do I start ???
My last ( of the 4 ) Z1000Rs that I owned in 1991. Seen here on August bank Holliday, August 91, in the Loire, with my ex wife. Stupidly sold it in circa September 91 to a lovely guy from Southend on Sea. Been trying to track it down for years.
XFG 383Y, where Are You NOW ??
I'd have my old Tiger Cub back without a moment's doubt. I'd even pay to have it shipped over to NZ.
Alas CPP252F is long gone. Certainly off the road since 1999 and probably broken for parts (that will all be shagged anyway).
Not sure "I'd like to buy it back" is considered a reasonable cause to get the current keeper details from the DVLA.

Snap. Having come from a TZR250 and a brief spell on an FZR600. I can still remember the test ride and how it felt opening the throttle fully. Was a bit shocked at the time, rode back and left 100 quid deposit and went to arrange a bank loan...It was my first litre bike after a ZZR600 and VFR750F and it felt like a cruise missile.

Either my RVF400 which was nicked or the RS250 Aprilia I had to sell when I had £4 to my name coming back from Australia.
The RVF was my first 'proper' bike and as an 18 year old and with the bike only being 3 years old I felt the bees knees. Sadly someone who didn't fancy the long days of work I was doing to pay for it thought they'd help themselves and I couldn't afford the insurance on a replacement.
The RS250 was daft as a bottle of chips but the first time I hit the powerband I was a bit obsessed. Sadly I was desperate for money so I sold it as a barely runner for £1000. It was pretty beaten up; I bought it crash damaged (cosmetics and a small dent in the frame) and I always planned to repair it but never took it off the road for long enough to get stuck in. It was a Mk1 and a friend at work's brother was racing in the RS250 challenge at the time so had a load of new Mk2 bodywork on a shelf. I bought that with the intention of putting it on but ended up selling it seperately.
Not sure I'd actually want another of either to be honest, but both feel slightly like unfinished business as I wouldn't have chosen to sell either really.

2005/2006 Suzuki GSX-R 1000.If you could keep one bike from your past, that you have since parted with, what would it be and why?
Loved the:
confidence-inspiring handling
throttle smoothness (still cable)
comfort (including the big petrol tank to which I could "connect" easily when leaning)
looks
rough(ish) GSXR sound
