I'm considering an aftermarket QS/Blipper for my Gen2 S1000RR.

As standard it's got the BMW Shift-Assist on the upshifts only, which is pretty good at normal road speeds but less good on track (it's a bit hit and miss at high revs).

Aftermarket options I'm considering are either a Cordona QS which is pretty much a like-for-like swap i.e. upshift only or a HM/IRC/Alpha QS/Blipper.

Reviews are a little bit thin on the ground and what I'm still not absolutely certain about is whether the blippers actually rev match or do they just blip to allow the down shift and then let the clutch bring the revs up to match the speed?
If it's the latter, then there's less of an advantage over conventional down-shifting with the clutch.

I was hoping that some of you keen track-dayers/racers might have a bit more insight but all info. and feedback is welcome...

Can the later Assist Pro be installed on the Gen 2 bikes? That will give you up and down shifts and it is a decent reliable QS, I have it on my S1000R and its perfect for road and track.

One thing it is slightly sensative too, is chain tension. Shifts can be a bit clunky or jerky once if the chain isn't tensioned correctly.

Chain tension is good and generally, the standard QS works fine but I've read a few times that the OE shifter just doesn't really like/work up around 12k+ revs and I had a couple of missed-shifts on track recently.

The Gen3 version maybe a retrofit option but knowing what it costs to get the ECU un-locked for mapping, I think it'd work out pretty expensive, if it is possible...
