nolan - ncom system
Discussion
has anyone used the ncom intercom system?
im looking at getting a new helmet for the mrs and ideally we'd have an intercom too. my nolan helmet is 'n-com ready' - which i think means very little in reality, i still have to buy the whole system to go in the helmet..
im wondering if n-com is a system worth going with, or whether i should use a more generic system. it would mean buying a nolan helmet for her too which limits our choices somewhat and raises the price on what might realistically never really get used more than once or twice
- is the n-com system itself worth it / better than a standard intercom system?
- does it connect ok with other intercoms?
- would it work if i just get the ncom bit for my helmet, and a cheaper intercom for hers

I have two Nolan helmets and like you before I had an intercom, one of the reasons I got them was NCom. You do have to buy NCom separately, it does not come with the helmet.
However I have never actually used NCom. I ended up using an Autocom intercom (bike powered, wired system) for several years and I'm going to replace the Autocom with a non-NCom Bluetooth intercom. For the Autocom speakers, I did have to remove some additional polystyrene foam with a sharp knife in the speaker compartment in the helmet to fit the Autocom speakers (i.e. I had to remove bits of the helmet which actually protect your head). Not much material, but some. Just something to consider if you don't buy a system which is made for the helmet.
My advice: buy the helmet you like, because you want that helmet. Personally I like Nolan helmets as they fit my head shape, so that is a good enough reason for me to buy them. After that, buy the intercom which fits your needs and make it work with the helmet.
If you do end up with a generic battery powered system, they have battery life which varies by a factor of 2. Get the battery life which suits your needs.

To answer the question about if NCom is compatible with other intercoms: I think the answer is that if you buy any new intercom, they should be compatible with each other as it is a standard Bluetooth interface. Have just had a look at the NCom specs, it looks like a decent intercom with a good battery life. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/...
Hi. I know this an older thread but have any of those with N-Com systems had issues accessing iPhones SIRI using the M-Com VOX system. I can answer incoming phone calls using VOX by simply saying ”answer” so I know the VOX system and the helmet microphone are working. It’s just SIRI that isn’t responding.
