Looks like an amazing deal, either ex-demo at around £8,200, or new at £10,000 with various insentives.
Pros: 'legendary' K5 engine, nice looking radial brakes, traction control, 140-ish BHP
Cons: not exactly a looker. Wrong badge.
I'm tempted - anybody know anything about these things?

I would say yes.

Stunning performance for what it is, good engine, good suspension, good brakes plus the good old Suzuki "fk-you" attitude to whatever anyone else thinks.

Go for it,

There's a reason there's good deals to be had. It doesn't even feature in most comparison tests let alone win any. It's probably a good bike in isolation but if I'm spending 10k then its going on a used tuono/duke/speed triple.

I like how the S version looks, the F not so much.

It’s a good bike. Plenty fast and 100% will not let you down unlike a used version of a Tuono, Duke, Speed or BM.

Parts bin special is probably a good thing as a K5 GSXR 1000 recently gave a new Duc V4S a pretty good kicking in a well thought out and put together Revzilla test which can be found on the Tube. Unless you are a Duc fan!

Lamb Chop reviewed one and really liked it, even over a S1000R.

I’d be surprised if you couldn’t find a pre reg but otherwise unused one for £9k.

I wouldn't buy a bike I didn't like the look of just because it had a good deal on. There are always deals on all sorts of bikes. Money is cheap to borrow now. Personal loans available at 2%, and interest free deals on some bikes.

I would sooner buy the more expensive bike ive been dreaming of and just pay for it a year longer or save up a bit more deposit etc rather than ride around on something thats just "okay it does the job".

jerky throttle, rubber brake lines
it is made to cost

Recently I am disappointed in Suzuki as a vehicle brand.
GSXR1000R is updated with new paint and nothing else, 3 years after release. What?
GSXS1000 is as it was 3 years before, basic and no updates, not even braded brake lines.

Suzuki discontinued the latest Jimny, what a cute car and capable little off-roader.
I saw loads of them in Italy on my last trip a week ago, meaning the style also worked and it is very popular.
Even interior was good looking.
1172kg and 100hp, what CO2?

The Suzuki Swift got uglier, heavier, costlier...

IMHO, the brand is sad (as a matter of fact, I do like my GSXR1000R a lot, but it is behind the rest on many points).

I always wonder when people here talk about "cheap money" and PCP deals.
I am not UK-based, so do not know.

What is "cheap"? Consumer credit is not business credit, which means rates of 4-5-6% (here in Switzerland).

I looked at PCP deal on Speed Triple RS in UK, out of curiosity, APR of 7.6% I believe. You find 7% cheap in the days of negative rates?!

IMHO anything about 1% is expensive. Yesterday I saw 0.9% leasing on Porsche Macan Turbo at Porsche Center, that is more like it.

Please, give me a link to 2% personal credit and a link to interest-rate-free new motorbike purchase deals, I am very curious!

Suzuki are offering 0% and £500 off on new models at the moment

I'm not surprised as what they have on offer is very poor at the minute, there's very little of any interest in the whole range.

A 15 year old engine that's lost 20 bhp is 'legendary'?

It’s wheel horsepower and a k5 1000 with 50k+ miles on recently handed a new V4S it’s arse on a track test.

I doubt a V4S will even get to 50k miles.

My 99 R1 with it's uprated suspension would probably have been faster than my standard K6 on a track.

The obvious competitor to the Suzuki is the Honda CB1000R. This was recently offered with £1k off and 0% PCP which was good enough for me.

You can get interest free finance on pretty much any bike if you have say 40% deposit with a dealer who uses MotoNovo Finance. Thats what I did when I bought the last new bike. A grand off list, a few hundred pounds of accessories for free and interest free over 36 months.

Personal loanss are 2.5 to 3% from somewhere like Zopa and most of the big banks. Thats "cheap" in the UK with our current base rate.

I've got one (the F version).
As it's my first bike I can't really compare to anything else but since passing my test (2 yrs ago) this was always the bike I came back to.

absolutely agree with you.
and not just motorbikes, cars as well.

P.S. 0% + 500 off. Maybe in UK you get better deals on different brands' bikes/cars, you are a much bigger country than where I am in.
