VMCC comic popped through the door today and it's got my X-75 Hurricane on the cover and 3 colour pages inside smile

I was having a miserable day on Teams calls and you've no idea how much this cheered me up - like a dog with 2 tails. I can probably arrange signed copies if required for a modest fee smile

Yea yea, cool story bro and all that - but anyone else had their ego boosted by being a media legend?

Never really thought about it before, but I guess with every bike comic that comes out there will be someone cock-a-hoop saying 'hey that's me' or 'hey that's my bike'. Luckily in this case it's pics of the bike only and none of me.

...and the 'article' was based on an email I sent just after getting the bike. I had no idea it would be included/published as I just sent some pics off for a publication on triumph triples with a covering 'are you interested?' email. It needed rather more fettling/work/parts/time than the article might lead you to believe, but it's all there now; absolutely everything works; it starts first kick, runs well and sounds glorious smile

I would have given them much more detail if I knew the pics would be in - but hey I've got a comic with my bike in it now smile

Well done TVR. Burntisland iirc? You'll have to use in for the Nov trip wink

I've seen the bike in question, heard it run and turned down the offer of a go on it. It really is a lovely example.

I don't like to talk about it but I was on the cover of Vogue...

or maybe it was Fast Ford magazine.

I was at Uni and my 230bhp Mk1 Escort was going to be featured, obviously I knew this as I'd met them for the article but I didn't know in which month it would appear, I was walking through WHSmith and saw my car on the cover with me at the wheel - I pointed it out to my mate and he started shouting "It's him, it's him, he's on the cover" like a hysterical fan

eek

I'll have to dig it out of my parents loft to bore my kids about it

Never owned a bike special enough for a mag cover. That magazine needs to go into safe storage biggrin
I have however once owned a vehicle that was on a magazine cover albeit the opposite way round with regards to ownership. I purchased it 6 months after all the photo shoots.
It was on all the main chav mags at the time with countless half naked women all over the bonnet rolleyes

Your thread made me google it to see if I could find the original cover but alas it feels like a different life time ago for me , 18 years ago frown

Incidentally I refused the aftermarket wheels from Keith ripp himself and had the originals refitted so it would seem I had some taste even back then.
Sorry its not a bike but I've had a beer and fancied sharing my vehicle moment of fame. That and the fact its worth twice the price now than back then at 6 months old hurl

I kept a few copies from when my car was in a mag...one to stay with car history etc. I have the mag with yours on the front, would you like me to post it to you as an extra copy when I have read it?

Cool, I opened the plastic on my VMCC magazine at the weekend but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. The X-75 did look good on the cover though.

I had my old 851 used for a photo shoot for a buyers guide/test ride in Practical Sportsbikes in the October 2016 issue. Was an interesting afternoon as I went and watched the photo shoot being done, and spent time chatting to the photographer and Phil West (long time biking journalist for those who don't know). I did buy a few copies of the mag when it came out and they provided a disc with a lot of photos on it. As they had ownership of the photos they've shown up in a couple of other issues of PSB and MCN since. Luckily because of the type of feature it was I wasn't required to be in the photos. Sadly I don't own the bike anymore.

Got and posted. Glad not to have just put it in the recycling, always seems a waste with mags.
