Each clip in the hazard perception test has several moments that would normally have you on the alert if you saw them on the road, which you do not click for, and one moment (two in the "joker" clip) which develops into someone really taking the piss, which you do click for and continue clicking as the camera vehicle brakes to a halt.
You don't actually have to click on anything - you're just pressing a button, there's no "aiming" involved, so it doesn't (much) penalise people who hate computer games. The awkward bit is not responding to the bits that don't "develop".
The blokes running the test will give you a good briefing, and it helps to ask them lots of earnest but slightly dim questions until you feel comfortable with what you're being asked to do.

That is not the case, you may click at these moments and not get penalised, you will however get penalised for over clicking when there is no need.
You score 5 points for clicking when the hazard first develops, and it decreases during the hazard to zero once the hazard has fully developed.
For instance you may be approaching a junction and a car is ready to pull out, you may click for this but if the car stays put you will not get penalised. but however further down the road there may be a cyclist you need to pass, if you click when you see him this may be the start of a scoring hazard, further down the road he may move accross causing you to take evasive action, this is the fully developed hazard and if you click at this point you may either score 1 or zero.
I passed 6 weeks ago with a 66, pass mark was 44
