I've read threads on MotoGP and BSB on here and enjoyed them all.

But how come nobody seems to say anything about WSB?

It was a great championship this year and Jonathon Rea won his 6th consecutive title. The top 3 in the Championship were all Brits, but I never see anything about it on here (or anywhere else)!

Seems strange to me.

Yeah good on him and his team for winning and all that. When the V4R started and it won the first two rounds, Rea started whining about the Ducati, Kawasaki/Rea turned it around, won another championship or whatever.....

It's a great championship with great bikes, great riders, great tracks, great coverage...but there's something about it, for me at least, that's just a bit...meh, having said that, I watched a 300 race the other week that was brilliant!

Think it was fairly decent this year with Redding coming in and winning some races but the inevitability of Rea winning the title does spoil it abit. How crazy Moto GP is this year with so many different winners/podium finishers also makes it being the same 2/3 winning every week in WSB seem extra stale.

Hopefully Scott can push him even closer next year, will be interesting to see Rinaldi on the factory bike too.

I tend to watch almost any motorsport I can find. Currently have the Spa 24h car race on as I stumbled upon it but for some reason I just can’t get excited about WSB.

Used to love it in the Foggy era but not any more and don’t really bother watching it even if there’s no other racing on. Not sure why, I did wonder whether it’s that they’re road based bikes on massive tracks with miles of runoff? I watch all BSB which is similar bikes but on gnarly UK tracks and all GPs which are run on similar tracks to WSB but for some reason, mix the two and I can’t get excited!

I do watch the odd WSB and BSB races along with occasional F1 snoozefest (because Lando, basically) but try to keep a lid on it as otherwise I'd spend my whole life watching motorsport and reading about motorsport and thinking about motorsport and posting about motorsport....

Pretty much exactly how I feel about WSB.

I've started a few wsbk threads , however after a promising start the usual pattern of rea winning every weekend returned.

Hopes for the future are toprak and rinaldi to take the fight to rea.

It’s the “Rea effect” for me as well. I used to watch WSB with as much enjoyment as MotoGP and BSB but tend to ignore it these days even if it’s the only motorsport available.

I don’t claim any logic behind it as I’ve happily watched MotoGP through years of dominant riders such as Rossi and Marquez.

I’m hoping Scott Redding will provide more competition next year.

I wonder if wsbk need to tweek the rules to make the grid more competitive ?

Either just use pretty much super stock 1000’s so you can have more local wildcards or have performance ballast so nobody can run away with the title.

Having a pure sport that nobody watches and thus wants to sponsor seems unviable.

I think part of the problem might be that road superbikes aren't as popular as they were, same with the 600's.

I think people just want entertainment.

Bsb went down to the last race weekend.

Moto gp has been brilliant , so many different race winners and we’re still no clearer who’s going to win the title.

With financially tough times ahead this is what sports need to achieve to keep the sport worth sponsoring and fans watching.

Whilst the Marc Marquez / Repsol Honda combination has been the best over the course of the season for many seasons, it's not always the best each weekend. A lot of races in the past few years have come down to the last lap. Plus occasionally Marc falls victim to his own hubris and fks up or does something incredible.

WSBK the Rea / Kawasaki combination is unfortunately too much better than anyone most weekends and nobody cares because there's no uncertainty. Both rider and manufacturer have remained the big fish in a small pond for too long - and both should have gone to MotoGP some years ago.

On a personal level there's only so much racing I can watch and I prefer the carnage of Moto3 and the pinnacle that is MotoGP.

There are some pretty exciting riders on the WSB grid with Van Der Mark, Redding (obviously), Razgatlioglu etc. and I have to concede Rea is a top grade rider.

But I do get where people are coming from. A lot of the WSB tracks seem like Sainsbury car parks and Rea, though really fast does (to me ) come across pretty insincere off the track. I find him a hard guy to like. It doesn't help that the commentators (particularly Greg Haines) seem to adore him and spend half the race talking about how wonderful Rea is. After this many seasons it does get a bit dull.

Bautista threatened to shake things up last year for a few races but sadly that 'charge' ended and Rea was back.....Again...

I’m not sure. I think BSB is as big now as it’s ever been really.

For me it’s the tracks. Big featureless places with miles of tarmac runoff does nothing to inspire me. I don’t mind in MotoGP as they are prototype bikes and it’s almost like a different sport to something like BSB, to me. WSB fills an unhappy gap between the both with the worst elements of each.

I also suspect that now GP racing is a four stroke class it makes WSB look like a slow version. Back when GP was 2-stroke WSB was the pinnacle of 4-stroke technology and speed. Maybe they should run WSB as a MotoGP support race hehe

I recognise this, though I stuck it out until Corser / Edwards retired from WSB.

There's something about the WSB coverage that's not quite right compared to GP racing. It reminds me of the Speed channel showing the AMA races, I can't quite get into the race, and don't really follow what's happening.

BSB is better seen trackside, rather on TV.

I like and follow WSB. Yes Rea's domination has been boring in some respects, but the last two seasons have actually been a good battle with the V4R.

BSB is better simply because of the tracks. Lack of TC helps too.

I once preferred WSB over MotoGP. Riders like Haga, Checa, Biaggi, Bayliss, Corser, Spies, Fabrizio...etc - I also found the Supersport class great too with Crutchlow, Laverty, Lascorz, Sofouglou and co! I then cancelled my Sky subscription and lost access to Eurosport. Have followed it ever since from a distance and went to Silverstone in 2010 and watched Crutchlow do the double on the R1.

I do agree that BSB is more exciting though, we have some fantastic venues in the UK.

I really enjoy it and have done this year especially - iv been watching the supersport races before it, Locatelli has absolutely bossed it and is moving up into WSBK next season which throws a bit more excitement into things - Rea didnt just easily win it this year it went right down to the final few races!

I really fancy getting to a meet or two next year if all this covid19 has eased by then... Magny-Coors and Barcelona would be awesome.
