Hi all

My 2017 MT10 needs new front pads.
The brakes are the part of the bike which receives the most criticism in all the reviews but supposedly they are transformed with better pads. I've done 12k on the original ones including a couple of track days and never really had a problem with them (well, I think its the original ones, if not then I've completely forgotten changing them)

Anyone got a recommendation for a decent fast road pad? I won't be using this bike on track at all so road orientated stuff only.

While ago, but when I had Sports bikes,Track Day bikes and a Race Bike.
I always used 'Carbone Lorraine' Pads.
I never found anything to Better or even equal them.

I have no idea what constitutes ‘fast road’ but I always fit EBC HHs.

Better initial bite over OEM, reasonably priced and decent, if not outstanding wear time. Just don’t buy from eBay as fakes are rife.

Thats what I use in my GSXR 600, They're on my list already, cheers

By fast road, I suppose I mean pleasure rides rather than commuting etc

I've got an mt10 and have read the same about the pads. Apparently brembo sintered are the ones for fast road, I've got some for my tiger adv bike to try out but I haven't fitted them yet. If they are good I'll put them in my mt

Thanks

My MT09SP had the same brakes and I used Brembo sintered as I have done on pretty much every bike for a long time, the brakes were massively improved after that (they were wooden with zero feel beforehand)

I've had a look at the brembo offerings, there seem to be a few different compounds. You don't happen to remember which ones you fitted?

Thanks all, I've ordered a set of EBC HH from sportsbikeshop.

I fitted the EBC pads yesterday and took a bit of a scenic route to work this morning.

I thought the OEM pads were fine but these ones are so much better. I get that I'm comparing worn pads to new but the EBC have so much more feel and initial bite. Very impressed.

Do 5 or 6 emergency stops and then see what they feel like.

It will bed them in properly, and clean all of the build up off the discs.
It will also let you feel any 'Heat Fade'
That's exactly what 'That Test' Highlights.

Good choice. In my experience that bite stays for most of the life of the pad. Life of them isn’t quite as long as some others, so keep an eye on them but they really are very good.

Goes back to racing days 40 years ago and more recent track days. You really can't Piss around with new pads. Loads of Emergency Stops/hard stops on the out lap then let them cool. If you can't get to Mallory on a Wednesday for a set up you have no choice!
