Ruroc Carbon Raw helmet
Discussion
I thought I’d write a short review of the Ruroc Carbon Raw helmet with Shockwave.

Shockwave: https://www.ruroc.com/en_gb/atlas-shockwave-audio-...
Helmet vent plugs: https://www.ruroc.com/en_gb/moto-helmet-vent-plugs...
Total: 555 - ignore the current pricing as they have a stock market promotion that is reducing some prices and increasing others. In 2 days prices will return to normal.
I ordered my helmet at the end of August and it just recently arrived. I’m told delivery times are better now as they had supply chain issues due to corvid and other delays.
The helmet itself is beautiful, very light and it feels very high quality with excellent internal padding. I also really like the fidlock which is incredibly easy after d-ring straps. The helmet also comes with two visors and a pin lock. Ruroc included an extra pin lock with my helmet as a small gift for the delays. I separately purchased the helmet plugs to block the vents as it can be cold in winter and it also helps with noise.
The helmet audio is superb, very clear and the unit can be very loud if required, it’s far too loud on full volume for me even on the bike. Making calls is possible as well as the mic works quite well.
In short, I’m very happy!

Interesting description about that carbon helmet weave;
"Only 40% of shells make the cut - each one that meets the manufacturing standard is unique & has its own character formed by the craftsman that laid it! "
So the manufacturing process is that out of every 10 handmade helmet shells made (presumably in a country with very low labour costs?), 6 end up in the bin, and 4 are deemed acceptable. And this essential QC check is completed how? By eye? Then, of the ones that are left, the shells have sufficient imperfections to be distinguishable to one another.
When I buy a helmet, I feel I am putting my life in the hands of the manufacturer that made it. For that reason I want to feel the manufacturing process and QC process was robust, and that it was as close to perfect as possible.
It's being marketed like it's a artisanal craft item rather than a critical piece of safety gear.
For that reason am oot.

Ruroc is a UK company, based in Gloucester. The shells and liners are made in Italy and then shipped off to China for assembly and graphics. I believe many companies in the carbon fibre bizzo never get 100% yield, especially when they're producing things where the weave pattern is a cosmetic feature. 40% doesn't sound too crash hot though!"Only 40% of shells make the cut - each one that meets the manufacturing standard is unique & has its own character formed by the craftsman that laid it! Very nice, didn't realise you could get helmet plugs, that was what put me off them in the first place tbh. Most of the time I have all the vents shut on my lids.
Any pics of yours?
It's utterly stunning and with the integrated bluetooth and quality speakers, I love it. The only failing of the bluetooth is the controls on the back of the helmet are utterly impossible to access whilst wearing the helmet but I control using my phone so not an issue for me. Any pics of yours?

Only when I go for longer rides, around town and commuting I generally don't. If you're wondering about the volume, it's far louder than I can tolerate with ear plugs and there is no distortion at high volume.
Yeah it was more a volume question really as my Cardo with the expensive JBL speakers isn't loud enough at motorway speeds whilst wearing plugs.Jazoli said:

40mm or 45mm speakers? Not that it matters, I have the black which has the larger 45mm JBL speakers and still find the same issue.
