Hoping someone can give me a bit of advice. One of my associates has the above bike and had a small accident which resulted in the breakage of the left footrest. He’s been coming to work all week like this and today I insisted we do something.

The plan was to take one of the rear footrests and put it in front. To do this we had to remove the gear shift. The Allen bolt holding it in was understandably stiff and we got the bolt out by tapping the Allen key with a hammer (not brutally!). As the bolt turned it made a sort of grinding sound which I put down to the locking spring washer.

Anyway we got it all back together but now it’s impossible to select 4, 5 and 6 without letting the clutch in a bit and there’s a “clack” type noise when these gears are selected.

Have we fked up the gearbox? frown

ETA It’s too late to call anybody now and I don’t want the gearbox to seize up on him on the way home hence the query. If it’s ok to ride he’d rather take it home

No you havent mine did it to, from memory you need to push it around with the clutch in while trying to select the gears

My guess is that you’ve put it back on a few splines out.

I normally put marker dots on to take the guesswork out.

You may have to do trial and error to work out which way to rotate it to fix the issue.

Thanks so much guys, so he can ride the bike with no risk of the box seizing up and throwing him off?
