Detailing Advice
Discussion
I’ve put this in the detailing section but I know lots of you on here are a little OCD about your bikes so any advice welcome as it will be mostly used on the bikes.
So I’ve bought myself a DAS-6 PRO Dual Action Polisher, but have never used one before. I have always done my polishing, waxing, coating etc by hand and I have to admit that whilst I understand the DA polisher is safe, I’m a little nervous. My nervousness is not helped by the myriad pads out there so any advice on what to get is appreciated.
The polisher comes with a 5” and 6” backing plate but given the bike use it seems sensible to get a 4” too
What pads foam or microfibre?
Usage will be light polishing, not cutting to remove scuffs and small scratches and wax/coating application
I have a few Megs polishes and a Gyeon one as well as some hard wax and Gyeon coatings, but what’s best to use with machines, and again bike not car, at least not yet!
All advice and experiences are very welcome, the only thing I can’t change is the DA polisher so I hope the reviews were accurate and it us a good one, I was surprised how heavy it was!

I've got one of these. Its great, on a car.
Can't see it being a lot of use on a bike though.
Even with a 4" pad the throw is going to be too big for a bike IMO.
If you don't want it for correcting any defects I can't help but think a fluffy buffer on the end of a drill would be better for you.
Trying to be a bit more helpful a medium foam pad is a pretty good do it all option. Don't think that a soft pad is automatically safer as they can sometimes create hologramming were a medium pad won't.
I've had great one step results with Sonax Profiline EX 04-06.
In my experience unless you are really careless or the paint is already in poor shape you can't do any damage with a DA.

I've always found that the mess a mop makes, means that I only use one on the worst cars / panels
For personal bikes I can't see one being worthwhile
My pro painter mate uses tiny mops on his air tools maybe 2" they work well to mop out details
A quick google suggests the sanders are 2" but the polishers are 3"
