Hi chaps,
I did my CBT years ago and got an 2006 Aprilia rs125 with 2500 miles. We have sold our house in North London (Golders Green area) and need to have it shifted. Would anyone know a shop or trader whom would be interested in it, have called a few but they said it's not the kind of thing they buy.

I don't have a CBT license anymore and the bike has no MOT, so would have to have it collected (my car garage friend is able to transport in his van also if needed).

I would of thought ebay or gumtree would be your best bet for a quick sale. Maybe shpock as well but be prepared for time wasters!

+1 for eBay and gumtree - honest ad, lots of pictures. It'll go no bother, everyone likes a bike project.

Do some research too, a good one of these is worth good money. How much did you pay for it?

I bought a 2008 RS125 near the start of lockdown for 1900, rode it a few times and sold it on for 2500 a few months later. Couldn't really justify two bikes but was a lot of fun. I went with gumtree and it was effortless.

Stick it in the Freetech group on Facebook as well. There are loads of people after 125's to run in the freetech race series next year.

Assuming it's been properly stored I would imagine it's worth fairly strong money with that mileage.

thanks. Has indeed been stored very well, was in my garage (which is heated).
What kind of price do you think I should be asking for her

Just wondering how it works with letting someone test drive a bike. If it's a car of course would be in the car with them. Do you take the full money up front or are people generally happy if it's idling ok etc

It’s pretty well accepted that you don’t test ride s private sale without handing over the asking price first.

I've test ridden a few private bikes without handing over cash.
Usually you can tell if someone is genuine or not.

I've also let people test ride bikes without handing over cash, most expensive being 7.5k

Ask them if they are insured (and ask for proof).
Then take their licence and something of value either the vehicle they arrived in's keys and a mobile phone or something.
Unless it's a yobbo turning up, then chances are they'll be happy to do so if genuine are aren't going anywhere without the things you've just taken off them.

I either take the money off them first or their car keys (note it's a well known con to hand over a random key and have a mate hiding in the van ) so go with your gut instinct.

But I've almost had to force buyers to take a test ride - I don't want any hassle so would far rather they test ride and walk away if they're not happy. than have them come back moaning
