Hello! next year my mates and I want to do a enduro day. We are all novices, some have a bike licence and some don't. Both places can take new riders. We are thinking of going at the end of the summer 2021.

Has anyone tried both and if so which is the better day for beginners? All the reviews I have read say both places are great so I thought I would ask on here.

Not done any but remember Dave Thorpe racing from back in the day and christ, he was fast.

Have you thought about Geraint Jones' Yamaha Experience in Mid Wales? Did a few Enduros with him in the eighties and he was a brilliant rider. I remember going on the back of his bike (either a Husqvarna or KTM at that time) and riding a rutted track with two up, faster than I could go on my own KTM. He was World Champion for a reason, that's for sure

Did the Ady Smith KTM day last year (the Worcester one) was good fun but got a little tiring essentially going round and round a few big fields in loops.

My recommendation for someone considering doing any sort of Enduro day is find somewhere that can actually take you out on some long trails. The Welsh ones look particuarly good.

I did a Dave Thorpe day earlier in the year and it was great fun. We were a mixed group of ages and abilities, but I think it catered for all.

Thanks for the replies! the postie bike one looks amusing but sadly not everyone has got bike licences.

I'm looking forward to it, even though its ages away. Looking online the Mick Extance day *seems* to be in a larger area. But I think that I can't really go wrong.

Either will blow your minds. Not just how much fun and how hard it can be (and how hilarious is it for you and everyone else when you inevitably fk it up and end up to your eyeballs is ste, or a hedge), but no matter how gentle you are, and how well you do on the day, two days later, coming down the stairs, you will think you have tourettes with all the swearing from how much you hurt!

Best thing to do on a 2 wheels ever, IMHO. Both places will look after you and you'll have a riot!

I did the Dave Thorpe centre in Feb. My first ever time riding off road and I was doing it on a DCT Africa Twin. One of the best things I’ve ever done on a bike - only fell off once...

I did this one with no experience, and was doing wheelies and stoppies on grass before lunch - it was really good fun

I've been to the mick extance day 3 times now. I've taken people who have never sat on a motorbike before and they've all come away with a huge smile on their face. I've also taken people who have ridden offroad for years and they have enjoyed it just as much.

They have enough instructors that groups can be split or people be given extra help at pretty much any point in the day.
