I have been wanting a bike again for ages, have always had Japanese sports bikes and fancied a change!
I started looking for a new car which is qhat i really needed and invariably ended up browsing bikes on ebay.
Am now the (hopefully!) proud owner of a Speed Triple, I have never ridden one but they seem to be thought of well, and have only seen the one I've bought in photos.
It gets delivered on Monday, and I cant wait!!

Picture of bike from ebay

Fingers crossed its as described, have never bought like this before smile

Wooburn Green Motorbikes? 5 mins down the road from me, their stock is always fairly good and the guy that runs it is nice.

Should be a good one smile

I didn't spend as much as you (unless you absolutely stole it!) But wanted to get back into booking after a 12 year break. A few months ago I was watching a bike on eBay and after 2 glasses of red I put l in a cheeky bid with 5 seconds to go. Resulting in me traveling 2.5 hrs to Peterborough to collect an 08 F800s 2 days later.... Short MOT (passed with advisory on fork seals) and have ridden it only a few times since. I did the seals and bushes a few weeks ago but only got round to checking then on a ride yesterday. Come to think of it, I bought a ZX7R and a Z1000 without riding then first either as they were brand new in the showroom. But I guess sitting on them counts....

I bought a Tuono unseen from a dealer.

Assured it was a good one and would be delivered with a new MOT.

Arrived with a bald rear tyre, snapped crash bung and two weeks to run on the MOT.

They did sort it but don’t know why they thought to try it on when I had everything in writing.

I rode one of the new RS Speed Triples and found it felt very tourer with a lazy feeling engine. It was nice enough but not exciting to ride.

Thats the place! Thats good to hear, I spoke to Michael for some time on the phone before buying it, he seemed like a good bloke and is very enthusiastic about Triumphs

That sounds like a pain, horrible to have the shine taken away from a new bike purchase.

I did have a look at some newer ones but really like the round headlights

I bought a GSXR1000 k2 off gumtree, private sale and knew the moment I saw the add and spoke to the seller that it was an honest, genuine sale. Caught the train, picked up from station and rode it back the 200 miles. It was mint and the best £2200 I had ever spent as I had 3 years of trouble free riding and sold it for £2600!

I actually saw the bike up for sale recently for even more money!

Really lovely bike you've gone for there. I rode a 15 reg and 19 reg (RS) version. Engine is really smooth almost lazy feeling. Really nice feel and ergo's

Only thing I found with it is the engine would pull beautifully all the way through then bam I hit the limiter. That was more me not used to the triple but I could easily have my bum on one and ride about for hours

Paid 580 quid for a vfr750 blind off ebay. It tried to kill me on the M27 on the way home.

I still have it now, bloody love it.

Jealous, bought a CBR600RR unseen on the 7th December and still waiting for it to be delivered. Its now stuck at the delivery hub which is further away from mine than the dealer was.

I bought one of these too in 2003 when they were the new kid on the block. Got a lift from Doncaster to Doble Honda (south of London) & ride it back. I’d never even seen one in the flesh never mind sat on one. My rash purchase & rapid offloading of a Mille R was based on the positive road tests. First impressions weren’t great, if felt tiny & I thought I’d dropped a clanger but this soon abated & by the time I was north of Peterborough I was pretty smitten with it. Great little bike & one that still looks good 17 years later.

Funnily enough, the only bike I've seen and inspected before buying was my cheap, track-only GSXR. I bought a couple of used bikes before that without having seen them in the metal, a ZX6R I went to collect and a Blackbird I had delivered. I guess even more extreme than that was buying a brand new Africa Twin DCT, when I'd never seen an Africa Twin except in pictures, or ridden a DCT bike!

How did it try and kill you?

Coming home along the M27 westbound where the road briefly becomes 5 lanes to allow for southbound exit onto Portsmouth. In lane 4 at traffic flow speed (70ish) between lorries, etc, heavy rush hour traffic, raining and going dark. ALL electrics die.

Stator wiring connections, reg rec, starter solenoid all welded themselves.

Oh and the front tyre was very poor.

Oh and the fork seals.

And the brakes weren't much to write home about.

Before...

Recovered by van, rebuilt full electrics. It now has a big bang R1 MOSFET rectifier, all wiring rebuilt/uprated and extra fused battery feedback/earth loom. It's an old nail but i bloody love it.

After (it's not usually this clean, it gets used all year round)...

Apologies for thread hijack!
