I must be getting old. Gold Wing bought.
Discussion
Well i thought i'd decided to give the big heavy 'ships' a miss after my 2010 Wing did it's best to tear me joint from limb moving it about. I spent a few years on street fighters and the like. Suzuki B King. Aprilia Tuono. Etc. Then this 2019 Wing came up for sale at a great price and i went for it.
Does anyone here own the latest model Gold Wing? I just love this bike. Lots of jesting going on in the local bike crowd about my mid-life crisis (43) etc. but this is so much better than my 2010. Loving the semi-automatic gearbox. 75 mph is little more than tick over in 7th cog. Smooth as silk too.
Yes it's still a heavy thing but so much better than the old one. Honda has done an amazing job on the latest bike. It even feels quick now, something the older bike never did.

I haven't driven one for a few years, but I wasn't at all fond of the ones I did.
To me they're just too far removed from "proper" motorcycling.
Too heavy, too big, too bulbous, too plush etc.
If you want that seamless luxury and continent crossing ability then buy a car; at least you won't get wet when it rains...

Looks like something the Toecutter would hoon about on. I love that.Must admit, I have found myself looking at earlier (1990s)1500 'Wings. They are getting to be quite a bargain. I would probably attack all the chrome with mat black dip or paint, though. I haven't a clue what they are like mechanically, though. Does anyone have any pointers?

Low mileage isn't always better (as with any bike), but consider also how old the existing tyres are.Must admit, I have found myself looking at earlier (1990s)1500 'Wings. Look for the belts having been changed, the different filters having been done and the driveshaft having been regreased at some point.
Corrosion wise check the swingarm and exhausts, if it runs a bit funny it could be one of several vacuum hoses split.

Ooh I like that. The two wheeled equivalent of a Lexus LS400. (Or Honda Legend?). It's even in a Lexus style colour. This is the actual bike I found. I have no idea if this is a good price or not.

There's a bit of a premium on the bike because of what it is (anniversary model), but I would say that's a fair price.
You need to establish though whether the status of selling on behalf of a customer means it is a private sale or whether you are getting consumer protection, warranty etc.

I'm going to look at the Trophy later on today. Maybe a few years of that and then I fancy one of the new GoldWing Baggers, lovely!
