ducati 749 colour
Discussion
ok dudes, have just been to see the 749 & ducati offered me a truly stunning part ex price so....
new 749, i was struck on yellow but with the new front end design making the air intakes smaller, i am less struck.
I am coming around to the 749 dark, looks stealthy.
Come on, opinions pls..

Not convinced on the black personally... what's the point in having a charismatic bike and then trying to hide... nothing about it says wolf in sheep's clothing...
Red... classic Italian colour... always looks good...
Yellow... loud, lairy and brash - bit like the bike. Get a nice loud can and you've got the thing nailed.
All IMHO of course...

Incorrigible is right (he's magic that's why)
Yellow = 748/749
Red = 916/996/8/999
Black = ok cos it's different
Race Rep/ Team colours eg. Fila very cool only if done properly and exempt from above rules.
True = The Ducatisti know you know
P.S. My neighbours mate comes round to visit him on a red 916..... what's wrong with that? well, he's cut out white triangles from sticky tape & plastered the bike with them - all over!! what a Mekon!!

Pah!
Go to the namby pamby ducati forum & find out for yourself - you'll see.
It's like buying a base model of a car - you think it's great on the way home from the dealer & then as you start looking out for others you realise you're underpowered with no credentials.
Do not buy a red 748/9 - people will laugh and throw stones.

Not wanting to burst your bubble mate...
But the 749 Dark is the poverty spec model. Think of it like a BMW 3 series with ugly black plastic bumpers.
Not only is the colour different but it has cheapy cheap cheap suspension too.
The 999 in Gloss Black with Black frame is luvverly, best of the bunch. Not yet an option on the 749 though.
Yellow is the traditional colour for the smaller Ducatis but the red is more in tune with it's Italian roots. Be aware that a yellow bike will be a magnet for flies and midges during the summer months, when stationary at junctions or hanging around the pits at a trackday you'll be forever swatting the buggers away.
Race reps are cool during their current year but it's a bit like wearing last season's footy shirt after that, and you feel a bit 'out of fashion'.
Most good motorcycle paint shops will paint a full set of panels for @£600. You can secure a discount on a less popular colour, then use that to create a one off masterpiece. I'd personally get one done in Titanium Silver with red wheels like the early SENNA bikes.

all points noted & most appreciated, re the suspension, I dont really ride hard enough to notice the difference.
Good point about yellow & flies, didnt think of that.
I love the idea of a one off colour & think may just do that.
Will maybe get a dark, use for a year then spray it.
thx again chaps.
