Hi all,

Can anyone feedback any information on Alpinestar leathers? Primary use will be on the road, days out during the summer with very little track use if any! Have considered 2 piece but prefer the 1 piece.

Two I’ve looked at are the Missile Ignition and GP Tech V3.

Cheers!

I've used Alpinestars for years without any issues, I had a suit last about 10 years before a mouse decided to call them home over winter and eat the lining, I've crashed in a few sets and they've stood up well, without any splits/rips.

My body shape fits Alpinestars really well which is what it's all about, but saying that the replacement set I bought after the mouse incident (Atem v3 I think), I bought on-line much cheaper in the same size, however the calf area had been completely redesigned and are much much tighter, I have to zip the legs half closed before pulling them fully up, and then when they are on the whole suit feels like it's pulling down due to the restriction around my calves.

Ultimately that's my fault for buying on-line and thinking they would give a little the more I wore them, which they have but just not enough. It wouldn't stop me buying another set for sure, but I'd want to try them on first.

I'm going to sell this set now as they're just too tight.

I have an Alpinestars Challenger V3 1 piece suit, bought from Jordan Bikes in Leeds a couple of years ago.

They have a perforated front, elasticated panels inside the arms and legs (comfort and breathability) and go faster speedhump on the back (bought for a road trip to Italy for MotoGP).

They're excellent quality, a very comfortable fit and feel up to the job, though not tested out their crashworthiness, unlike my BKS suit, which is a patchwork quilt of go faster repairs.

Been looking at the Tech Air compatible 2 piece Alpinestars now, just can make the man maths work at present though.

I ride in a alpinestar 2 peice. Went for the missile pants and a Jaws V3 jacket as it was more comfortable.

Fit it good, except for the calf area where the stitching is starting to fail (must be more than 3 years old) as they are a little tight.

Have had alpinestar leathers before and had a slide or two on track and they've been fine.

I'd always suggest a 2 peice for mainly road riding, so much easier if you decide to stop off anywhere.

Alpinestars Missile two piece is really nice. Definitely go two piece. Then if you want you could wear armoured jeans with the jacket - much more comfortable off the bike and great when the bike is transport rather than the main event.

I've had a couple of the Gp tech suits and they're decent kit, but quite a lot of money for what they are compared to the RST Airbag suits, which are much cheaper and not much less in terms of quality
The AS GpTech suits tend to come up more of a race fit that the lower line suits, so consider that in your size choice
The airbag is well worth getting though as it's a game changer in terms of safety (Ive tested mine out a couple of times too)

I’ve posted this many times. I have an AS 2-piece which is probably 17 years old now and still completely useable. It’s protected me in a high-speed track off, from which it only needed a new zip at the bottom of one sleeve and a little bit of stitching. 17 years ago it was £550. In the crash it fared FAR better than a bespoke one-piece from one of the well-known UK manufacturers - in that one I low sided on track at about 50mph and the suit was trashed. Needed multiple labels replaced and still now looks very second-hand. Yes it did the job of saving my hide, but no way stood up as well as the AS suit. And it was almost 3 times the price.

I had an Astar 1pc as my first track suit when I got into track days in 2016. I also have Dainese 2pc for road and in my opinion you cant compare the two for build quality

The Astar design is lovely and fit initially good but over time the knees would move about (and I'm same size now as I was then). I always buy my leathers snug too it just went more baggy than my dainese

I crashed in them couple times. Didnt get any burns but ripped up as leathers do and stitching went on knee, arm etc where it looked like it was single stitched to the kevlar

I've probably put them in bad light. They are alright - better than RST but of the italian brands I'd rather Spidi or Dainese
